Yellow R1 pulls a C6 Z06

Ahh....this was my greatest kill of all time. Better than a 360 kill I had 2 yrs ago. Better than a modded yellow C5 Z06 kill last year. The new Z is a very worthy adversary indeed. It was a Black C6 Z06 with blacked out windows on a few repeat Hwy rolls from 65 mph to about 125 mph.

Just finished dinner with the wife & am coming down the Hwy & see a new black C6. I roll past about 2 mph & see its a Z06. Hmmm, lets see how fast one really is!
I downshift to 4th, step on it a little & change lanes - Bingo - I guess he hears the BOV wants to play. He changes lanes, shoots up next to me, downshifts so I can hear his 427 . OK, downshift to 3rd, going about 65mph & he's just waiting. *** it - I nail it & the CYM screams through 3rd, shift to 4th & the Z is slowly getting PULLED . We ran to about 125 & I slowly pulled him by about 1 to 1.5 cars. It was very close.

He didn't like that shiate at all so he decides to ride my AZZ about 1 foot off my bumper when I had slowed down again to about 70 mph. He WON't get off my azz & is lurching back there. So, here's a taste of 17 lbs of boost again Buddy . ..........What's this? .........He's getting pulled again? Same result as last time up to 125 - 130 mph (1 - 1.5 cars, but this time he was drafting me & he still got pulled).

3rd gear rolls in an FD are nasty. I'm sure that guy is scratching his head, "WTF just happened?" He never rolled down his mafia windows. Its too bad, I was going to give him props. It was a NICE Z & I'm glad he DRIVES it as it should be. Those were some fun pulls.

Fyi, I'm running 17 psi (not 14 when I dynoed my car 2 yrs ago and...my clutch wasn't slipping like it was on the heavy Mustang dyno Steve Kahn & I used). It was also a nice cool evening - perfect for my M2 Large Race IC. That IC is absolutely awesome (88% efficiency).

See ya,
-Matt

nice runs, your heart must have been in your throat....the new C6 Z06 is one bad ****

17 psi on stock turbos? race gas?

you must be about 380 rwhp....still seems like he would have won, perhaps you got the jump

Stock twins. 95/96 octane (I "mix" with the FD, run straight 100 in the SLK). And no, he got pulled on 3 separate occasions. His 427 was being held in its powerband before each pull, but hey, so was the FD. We were both very ready.

And yes, its likely my FD is putting down 380- 400ish rwhp @ 17 psi on a cool evening 70 mph roll.

Don't those things trap 125-127 stock? Your FD runs very very strong for stock turbos. I'd wager the majority of FDs on original stock twins would not have the same results. Regardless, Damn good stuff, when I come upon one I won't hesitate to challenge it. Congrats

Hmm, sorry - I'm gonna have to call BS.

My car dynos about ~380rwhp, and I couldn't hang with a new Z06. It pulled about 2 cars on me before we shut down.

The Z06s are dynoing 465rwhp, so they're also a little bit underrated.

So, you got a jump on him both times it sounds like....the first time just get beside him and just take off.....and the second, he's riding you, so you just take off. Neither race sounded fair. But, if it feels like a kill to you....then more powa to ya.

I'm thinking the Z06 driver would have a different story to tell, but congrats. on the win if you pulled it off as told.

Yes, I made the whole race up. This is EXACTLY why I hardly ever post my kills on this little forum. Its made up of a bunch of 20 something azz clowns that call "BS" because some dumb race wasn't on "video". Ya, I'm going to drive around with my wife & carry a "video camera",..... just in off chance I might race some car so I can use it as "proof" on some internet car forum? .

Years ago this used to be a pretty good forum. Not anymore. Its become a negative/accusatory little nasty "he said/she said" tit-for-tat typefest. I thought I'd share one of my more interesting runs with some fellow rotary guys. That was a complete WASTE of time.

You won't see me in the Kills section anymore. This site has become a joke.

whoa....slow down man. it does get bad around here but come on its a tough kill to swallow given the car makes 100 more rwhp and only weighs a couple hundred more especially given u had a passenger.

There's no reason to get pissie about this. I see you calling B.S. on people all the time, now the table has turned, and you get all "butthurt".

That race was by my house on Hyw 85 S. I have many a kill on that road (a 360 Modena, & a 911 GT2, which was very close with my FD, come to mind). Maybe I'll run into that 8,000 Hp LS1 FD sometime.

Gotta go eat lunch. I'll take my 1,200 rwhp SLK out

Here's a clip of a c6 Z06 spanking a modded cobra. You have to keep in mind the aerodynamics and how much torque it produces, even tho its a few hundred pounds more.

geez i thought you cali guys were laid back...go eat some tofu, have a glass of your finest napa valley wine , add some vicadin and chill out bro...who knows it could have been jaba the hut driving the zo6, therefore he wouldn't be able to shift very well cuz of his little t-rex arms, and geez i almost forgot the extra 2500 lbs he must weigh.

True, anything CAN and does happen on the street. Personally Matt, I believe the story. Nice Kill. Driving style and shifting technique can make a big difference. Also, who knows who was in the Z? Could have been a couple of 300 lb NFL linebackers. The only thing that would have made this sweeter would have been if the Z were yellow

Good kill by the way. Don't let the guys with worn out FDs with performance robbing mods built for the Dynojet between 6500 and 7500 rpm get you down. There are still plenty of us here that know a good kill from a well set up car when we hear about it.

I agree about those that always are quick to toss out a BS. It's also always a bummer to see the dude that needs to jump in with those cars run this or or they puts down that. Pretty lame stuff. You would think some of these guys could realize given cars don't always run like the guy that lives at sea level on a 45F day. It's all relative. Just get out some calculators and put things into perspective.
