I disagree. This thread pisses me off. It seems like every *BUT* you-know-who has got an awesome job that pays them plenty of money to pay for things like maintenance, insurance, gas, parts, and *gasp* modifications for their FD. Roughly $400% of my total income has been made through the stock market. That just ain't right! No one should be forced to gamble for income! What happens if I make some bad picks? No one bats 1.000; I'm practically teetering on the edge of bankruptcy and I'm only 22 years old! THE STRESS... CAN'T... TAKE... IT...

Now, if only I could get paid for bitching.

I'm a student, Chemistry, hopefully a double major with materials science or engineering, soon to be Army ROTC, 18 years old, bought the car when I was 16 with a little over 50k miles, paid $14.5 cash in Los Angeles area. On its second motor (supposedly), broken water seal right now (I think), has 70,600 miles. Josh

I understand.. but that doesn't mean those "rich" people are worse than you and I.. I don't make ton of money.. probably right in the middle.. but what I enjoy is getting to know other FD owners, talk and hang out.. I know some of FD owner(s) could of gotten 100K plus car (name not going to mention).. very few are in this catagory.. Should they go buy something else.. I know its not fair.. as it takes us forever to save up and buy parts as others could buy it and install by someone else next day.. but thats life..

I guess I'll bite...

28 years old
I bought my FD when I was 24 with 29k miles for $17,500.

Back then I was a call center manager for a computer mail order company that sold over 1 million dollars worth of products each WEEK. I gave that up to become a car sales man making almost 4 digit figures a week. And I gave it ALL up so that I can finish skool and get my mechanical engineering degree.

I now live under my father's wing barely making $200 a week. The FD is sitting in the garage in an extremely extended hibernation, but at least I have a nice daily driver (Infiniti J30). When I get itchy, I take the FD out at night for an hour or so looking for prey . With my current mods, she's fast enough to keep up with new 911 Turbos, so it's semi easy to find a victim One thing for sure. The less I drive her, the less she breaks Modding can wait. Once I get my degree, the real fun begins

Yes I am a broke **** right now. I learned you have almost no chance in what you like unless you have that stupid little paper in your hands.

BS. You don't need any piece of paper to invest in realestate. I'm not talking about those late night infomercials either. I've made a pretty good nestegg off doing this and I've only been in the game for about 6 months. After 12 months I'm looking at an estimated income of about 120k and there's still room to grow.

I went to tech school for 6 months and dropped out and delivered pizza until I found this and now I'm extremely comfortable. School isn't for everyone. Truth be told half the richest bastards in the world right now haven't had a day of college. Desperate times when you don't have a degree to fall back on lead you to really exert the skills of your mind and find a way out much like I did, much like many others did.

29, owner of Twin Vision Studios, a software and multimedia development company I started with a partner 7 years ago. Picked up a yello r1 with 80 K miles on it about 3-4 years ago, loved the car but its was in bad shape so I sold it and later purchased my current MB 95 with only 16K on the odometer. It now has 47K miles on it and lightly moded....it sees a lot of track time now though :-)

I recently turned 30. I'm a "senior software engineer" (tech lead on software development projects, usually J2EE) for a "systems integrator" company. I also give away my work on open source projects (still undecided if this is really a good thing for my industry or not, but I really enjoy writing software) . I bought my 93 base model in June of 98 in stock form with 71K miles and now it is single turbo and heavily modded.

It looks like I win the prize for most controversial career. For my main job, I work as a customer service rep for a cell phone company. On the side I run an internet business that helps guys around the world get laid:

http://www.adultpersonalsguide.com

This is my second 3rd gen. I bought my first in 97 for $23,600 with 22k miles. Kept it til 2000 and sold it for $19,000 with 44k miles. I put a few grand into it for mods (M2 stage 2 kit) but no major repairs.

I just bought my second one a couple months ago for $17,750. It's a 93 with 41k. It came complete with suspension, brake, and wheel/tire mods that I like so all I need to invest into it is reliability and horsepower mods. This will save me some money.

It's nice to get to know all of you through this thread
