Nothing like a fast car with lots of torque that has four wheel non-power drum brakes. In all the time that I drove it though, I never got a ticket or in so much as a fender bender.
Anyway, just trying to stick up for the teenagers that posted since I was one not too long ago. Hopefully, they won't screw up.

33, biotech/life science patent attorney
I bought my first FD in 95 and sold it in 96 'cause I couldn't afford the insurance. Just picked another up last year as I've regretted selling the first one ever since.

93 R1, less than 7k miles acquired one week ago. $ 26,000. This is an insurance "replacement" for my totaled 93 Touring with 24k miles on it at the time of the accident. The Touring had 12500k on it at purchase for $27000.

At this point, I pull in 100% of the cash so I could just say **** it and buy what I want...BUT, in less than a year she will be completely finished with school and making double what I currently do. So I don't want to **** her off now. When she's pulling in the dough you better believe I'm gonna have some TOYS.
Plus, I have a good feeling we are going to be seeing some exciting stuff in the sports car department from Mazda, Toyota, Nissan etc. in the near future, so I don't mind waiting.Rich, the insurance company is FINALLY paying up. The whole ordeal took several months to settle. They did a big long investigation on me and my 'suspected involvement'. But after I supplied them with all the information they asked for I was cleared of any suspicion.
How's the weather in Baghdad?
I'm mildly surprised at the very small percentage of those here who bought their car new... I wonder how many times the "average" FD has changed hands? How many single owner FDs are left out there? Perhaps they are underrepresented here because like me, their FD is no longer their primary car...
In my case, perhaps I take after my mother -- she bought an '84 RX-7 new and still owns it today. Low mileage too.
I'm pretty sure it has fewer miles on it than my '94 FD.
