Aftermarket wheel, no horn. HKB hub
Aftermarket wheel, no horn. HKB hub
So I finally got around to pulling off my momo "race" wheel the car came with because the horn wasn't working. I get the wheel off by removing the six screws, and I see one wire with a female single pin connector that goes to a spade connector on the back of the horn button. My horn hasn't worked, and if I remember correctly, the horn hub has HKB engraved on it. I'm kind of curious as to how I would go about testing this to see if it works, I can only see the one wire fed through the hub.
Also, if I go back to stock, will I need to source a RHD specific clock spring? Not even sure what kana I would use for that.

There is 1 wire going to the horn button, it just grounds onto the body of the steering wheel. When touched to ground the horn will sound.
The horn wire is on the harness for the air bag as well which some people get confused by.
Not sure if the clock spring itself is RHD. They typically never go bad unless someone hacked it up.

So if the wire is connected to the horn switch and I still get nothing, perhaps the hub itself is the issue. I suppose I could just do a test by grounding that horn wire, correct?
First step is to make sure that circuit is good - ground out the wire. If the horn honks, time to look at the horn button. Some of the aftermarket horn buttons are crap, I've had some fail on me. Other times the button itself doesn't have a good ground to the hub, they will have a metal ring that's the ground that touches the steering wheel with the button popped in but many times the steering wheel is coated and doesn't make for a good ground. Some horn buttons have a second post that you can attach a ground wire and find a spot to ground it too, I think I had to do that on my car.
Anyhow, most likely the horn button or how it's grounding.
