Question After lowering your ride...

How in the Hell do you jack your car up???

My floor jack won't be able to side under if I drop it 2 inches or so.

Then don't drop it two inches!

(That is a HUGE drop.)

Stay "conservative" and keep the lowering reasonable - 1-1.25".

To drop the car 2" without any rubbing would require STIFF springs and larger anti-roll bars.

i agree w/ rynberg. i lowered mine about 1.25" and it's plenty. there's no gap b/t the wheel well and the tire, and the factory rims fit nice and snug under there. anything more than that wouldn't be necassary. nick

yep 1.25 in back and around 1" in front is more than enough. Honestly, if you lower it 2.5" then you should be worrying about not making it out of the driveway and not "can I jack it up".

use your FD jack to start then use your floor jack.
I just use my FD and FC jacks for everything. Fits good and don't have to worry about causing and damage to the car.

The Glass man said it right, use your FD jack to start then use your floor jack. But use the FD jack to finish bringing the car back to the groung as well. If you use the floor jack to drop it, you probably will not be able to pull it out.

I stick my floor jack underneath the car near the rear and then slide it towards the front. I have Eibach's and they're a bit taller in the rear.

When I drop it, I lower it really slow. That way I can remove it with out using my FD jack(I hate doing that...PITA!)

Thanks, I have no idea how much I'll drop it, I was just throwing out a number to see a response. The more I look at my car and then look at other peoples rides, it looks like I put a LIFT kit on mine! hahaha!

yea its a bit of a bitch to get under my car, I have eibachs. like jpandes said i come in from the rear and then put some jacks under it. It takes a while, at first but then you get the hang of it.

I just wanted to point out that the hooks on the car ARE NOT TOW HOOKS! They were used to tie down the vehicle during transport. They are not designed for any other more strenuous purpose.

I drive up on 2 2x8's and then use a reguar auto store light jack.

About that site with the special jack: I'am not spending 200 bux on a jack, just use some ingenuity.

Drive it up on boards... My neighbor gets his 91' up on boards as well. All he did was buy 4 boards, and cut the ends at a angle, then hamered them together and sanded them on the roughs and then he pulls them out when he needs them.

With my previous car I could jack it up heaps and stick the stand under it. Usually three wheels would still be on the ground but sometimes the back wheel on the same size might come off a little. With the rex it ended up with three wheels off the ground kinda balancing back and forth. The who operation was quite dodgy. It was like I needed 2 jacks. What does everyone else do?

i rigged up the mini ramps (these are actually for ultra-ramps, the yellow ones sold at K-mart) namasan is talking about to a set of rhinoramps (which are a lowprofile car ramp, sold at walmart) to get my dropped cars on to. If the front is at least 4 inchs off the ground, it will not scrape at all on this setup. I had pics of it before, try doing a search on my name and ramps, it should turn something up.

Good luck

P.S. My car is dropped 2inchs in the front and 1.5 inchs in the back and hell yeah, it does rub in the front, sometimes even with stock tires.
