After reading some of these post about road rage I have to say that two wrongs don't make a right especially when you're actually jeopardizing your own safety.

Maybe if you're a curtious and patient driver the lady on the cell phone will think about what she's doing and NOT say to herself after being scared shitless by an FD flying by her "look at that *******".

Most of the people following too close are in a hurry and annoyed with someones driving who's probably doing the speed limit.

I'm sounding like a preacher here but seriously if you don't want to wreck your car just chill the **** out.

^ Agreed. I don't even go into the leftmost lane anymore.

While you clearly understand what's involved with repairing the car, I question the fact that you choose to not get the car aligned. Alignments are about much, much more than simply getting the car to drive straight.

As for the subject of drivers and road rage, you reap what you sow. There are ******** who block the road by not using the passing lanes properly and plugging up traffic flow, but then there are ******** who place their desire to speed above/beyond any reasonable safety and laws and road etiquette.

I admit to spoiling the day of both parties - sometimes when someone is blocking the passing lane for absolutely no reason. These people only get indignant when you pass them by the right or flash lights to get their attention that someone is (was) patiently waiting for their turn to pass. Their ignorance and indifference is extremely rude, and in PA it's illegal (it's illegal to camp in the passing lane).

But then sometimes I see someone flying down a moderately crowded highway. Then if I can see it early enough to do it safely I'll block that driver just because to stop them from cannonballing into the traffic ahead of us. Because that's dangerous to everyone. People need to be able to change lanes without worrying about getting rear ended by a car going 100.

I like the Autobahn, but keep in mind those highways are less crowded, have better visibility, and are unlimited speed only in select areas. They also have advanced traffic detection and warning systems that reduce speeds to avoid someone flying into stopped traffic. Oh, and the drivers actually understand and respect those rules. Simply put, their drivers on the whole are more advanced than ours.

While I would like to say that people can go as fast as they want, it's not realistic in any way. I have the right to drive our roads and not worry that some idiot is going to close in on me at 100mph. If it were as simple as unnecessarily low highway speed limits and trouble passing, I would probably respect these viewpoints more. But these same fast and slow drivers also skip turn signals, tailgate, run red lights, try to outrun cops, speed in residential areas, roll stop signs, etc. They deserve no respect.

Ofcourse the car CAN be fixed, the point is that it would be economically retarded to do so. The logical thing to do is swap the engine and surving parts into a nice roller and sell the duplicate surviving parts, or just walk away....

Irresponsibly self-centered drivers are dumb-asses and a public liabilities. It's not about how fast your going, it's about how you are driving relative to those around you.

Its gonna be really hard to win this in court since brent hit him from behind.

But either way, there are so much more important things in life than cars. It's a little late to be telling him he's an idiot to not have full coverage. At least he doesnt owe any money on it. I will say that everyone knows its not a good idea to drive a rwd car with no traction control in the rain.

I think it's a good experience for him to learn about situations like this early in life when he's still in high school so that down the road he is more careful about situations of greater magnitude when money becomes a really big issue. Yeah its a rare car and we all love it but in the end, its just a hunk of metal.

I'm actually selling my car, and unfortunately theres a good chance it will be totaled by whoever buys it. But whatever its just a car, I can't afford to play with it at this point in my life and I'm not going to let this toy hold me back.

Last I checked, you were talking about the FRAMERAIL not the STRUT TOWER. Yes, the strut tower is really bent and requires replacement. They'd possibly replace the rail on that side along with it. That's not an expensive or complicated procedure.

ANY competant exotic repair shop will tell you that they can fix that. If that car was 1-2 years old the insurance company would not even CONSIDER writing it off. Any bodyshop that wants to make money will both a: not use 100% new parts on an old car with expensive parts (and will tell you that) (used car = used parts) and b: Not turn down work.

When I purchased my FD it "looked" much worse than that but once I removed all the damaged crap I was surprised by how little damage there really was.. comments on this forum here included "that car will never drive straight again" and "body repair may be fine on a domestic piece of crap but not on an FD"... the FD has identical construction methods to every other car, and the car never didn't drive straight! There's pretty obviously quite extensive damage there but to say that car is irrepairable is just ignorant of facts. But hey, it's not my car... it just makes me sad when a 7 dies a needless death.

I guess that's my $0.02.
The problem is the guy doesn't have insurance. Impossible to fix or not, for the cost to do it he could probably almost get another FD.

OMG! That's such a huge loophole! I had no idea...so basically you can wreck the HELL outta your car, and it'll ALWAYS have a clear title as long as it doesn't have comprehensive? Wow...that's scary.

Fritz, I understand your point. But I'm not necessarily in a hurry (although ppl always ask me that b/c of how fast I drive). It's not a point I pride myself on; I think injury or death are inevitable for me unfortunately simply b/c of my dangerous driving style. I hope one day I take it seriously enough to calm myself down, but for now, I simply have a great deal of difficulty driving at the underrated speed limit we have in VA. 55 on the highway is INCREDIBLY slow. It fees like I'm never gonna get anywhere lol. I'm not trying to do 90mph either, but 75 - 80 sure seems like the sweet spot...

Dave, I understand your point as well. And I agree. But again, I'm guilty of being that left lane idiot, simply b/c I'm (dangerously) overconfident of my driving ability/awareness, which may put myself and others at risk even if my driving is perfect (yea right), and someone else makes a slight and unavoidable mistake.

Admitting the problem is 50% of the solution. Hopefully the other 50% will come soon enough, cuz man I've been trying to lighten up off of the throttle... =-/

Well, its not really a loop-hole. Its the insurance company creating that label per say. If you wreck a car, fix it yourself so there is never a claim; who would label it savage and/or who would know?

Don't sweat it man just take a tiny hit of sens, slip in the reggae and move it to the right a bit and you'll be fine. Just one hit though cause you don't want to be floating out of your ride with nobody to drive it

Jason, that's what you'd think, right? If there are 2 things I have a crazy ability in doing, it's 1) Getting *incredibly* bad gas mileage regardless of what I'm driving, and b) Driving whatever it is fast and hard. You should see the look on some ppl's faces when the FB rolls past 'em And mind you, the FB looks TINY when you look at it on the road haha. But I gotta admit, it gets a lil tipsy around 80. It's almost like the car's about to lift up into the air and just fly away haha

Same here, only in my grand am (daily driver). Guy slows down right in front on the highway to make a turn barely missed him, but was confident of my technic... I dogded him, but had to speed up quickly cuz the traffic behind was creepen up fast...
