In my experience there is NO reason to have multiple accounts on this site. Those who do have them are usually scamming losers with no morals. Eat ****, mindgame003

This car is a total loss no if ands or buts. Hell you'll have to cut the right side of the car off just to take the engine out and then pray the turbos, harness and manifold etc.... are ok.
Most insurance companies go by mileage on the car and what a typical 93 FD would sell for with those miles. So he might get 12000 less the deductible.
If my premium was 2000 plus just for liability I wouldn't carry comprehensive either unless the value of the car exceeded 20k. However I'd be a defensive driving ****
Northern VA is one of if not the most expensive places in the US to insure a car because there are more accidents per capita than most other regions in the us.
I'm not surprised at all with the insurance premium and as you can see it's for a good reason.

I hope not or there would be even more accidents

Seriously man if your following even within a couple of car lengths and the ghost busters truck sees a ghost and slams on the brakes you should have enough time to slam or your brakes. If you're in an FD you should stop sooner than most other cars anyway. If it's raining, your abs doesn't work and your tires suck then you should drive in the slow lane and follow a few cars back
i can't believe how many ******** there are in this thread!
The poor guy just crashed his car, give him some pity!
Does it really matter how it happened, what kind of insurance he had, or anything? Jeezus!
You all act as though you are the judge, jury and excecutioner and as though you've never fucked up on the road... wow.
The car looks repairable, but I doubt it'll be cheap. Try and find REPLACEMENT sections for where was damaged, the framerails don't appear to be bent from those pictures (because of how low they are in the car) - but you will never know until the car's apart and on the bench. It certainly isn't "too far gone".
Don't believe all the negative **** on this forum...
I have liability (+fire and theft) only on my FD and probably always will.
Over here in ontario, you make a claim and your liability rate will at least double and they won't cover you for colission again, if they even decide not to drop you at all. Insurance is such a complete scam that it's just not worth it.

Look at the shock tower and tell me the rail isn't bent. It's probably bent at 90 degree angle lol
look at the front of the car on the sides of the intercooler, the rails appear straight at that point and there's nothing with any strength in the front of the car to hold them straight.
While it's possible that they are totally unbent, you'll never know till it's on a machine.
That car would possibly be written off by an insurance company but it's FAR from irriparable, and any bodyshop would certainly tell you that as well.

What's your exp. with wrecked cars?
The frame rail is absolutely toast. LOOK at the strut tower. Even if the rail was straight which trust me it's not you'd have to replace atleast the passenger side clip.
I had a someone back into my car last week at 5mph and the damage was 2.5k.
Here's some sm #s. New front harness/ main wiring harness 1400, new front bumper 1400, new headlights 1200, new hood 1k, right side front clip 800, radiator, underbelly, hoses, IC 3000, fender 200, side markers bumper markers 200, fender liner 200, cross member 600, engine work, sway bar w/ end links, susp etc.....etc...
THE CAR IS TOTALED and that's what any body shop that's not in someones back yard is going to tell you.
I'm guess Jeff stopped fixing these cars because it's not worth it.

I'm not giving you a hard time I'm simply saying the car has well over 7500 in damage and I think you would agree. The dang roof line and pillar even look a little wacked to me in the pictures which don't even come close to showing everything.
If the parts were free I suspect it would take 100 hours to do the body, paint and engine labor. That's 7500 in labor.

Since everyone in this thread has already been deemed an a$$hole...

You got bent over my friend. Regardless of the mileage on your FD, you shoulda gotten $12K - $14K EASY if you toughed it out w/ the insurance company. Check KBB. While most insurance companies go w/ NADA, the value is still pretty high as per NADA, and "market value" can def. be argued.
True, but that nonchalant attitude is what makes so many forum members "a$$holes" b/c they see kids picking up these rare true sportcars and wrap 'em around a pole or slam 'em into a car/wall/what have you, be sad for a few days, shrug it off, get up, and repeat.
Thanks for the reminder Fritz lol. It also has to do with the fact that insurance companies are high level hustlers. I had a 1.5 hr argument with a Customer Service Rep, her Assistant Supervisor, then THE Supervisor of Progressive (cuz I'm still a few months shy of 25, and only Progressive and Geico have realistic rates for my age group). They charged me ONE point for a speeding ticket I had a few years ago (ok, speeding is dangerous, makes me more likely to get in an accident, ok I can swallow that). But then they charged me THREE POINTS (and thus a much higher premium increase) for a ticket I received while driving a DIFFERENT car without valid registration (emissions was overdue, and I hadn't repaired the car yet to pass emissions, and thus the registration was expired). That's a PURELY administrative citation, which ANY judge will throw out if you bring proof that your registration is now current. My argument was, "So lemme get this straight. You're NOT concerned about me speeding, which CAN cause me to get into an accident, but you ARE *VERY* concered with me driving w/ expired TAGS? What does that say about your insurance company and it's priorities? What message does it send about your concern for safety?" And I just went OFF on them. Needless to say, they removed the premium for the offense COMPLETELY from my record, and I saved something like $100 A MONTH from that alone. Unfortunately, most guys aren't as keen as to the shady BS insurance companies pull, and simply don't know any better and just take it. If they can get away w/ it, they will. Such BS...
Good...I'm glad I wasn't the only one who noticed that lol. I was starting to think it was my eyes... That shock tower is COMPLETELY bent. And ppl are saying there's no frame damage?!
Wow...I guess it'll just buff right out, huh?
One more thing. Sure, virtually *anything* is repairable given enough time and an unlimited budget. But the question is, do you WANT to repair an FD w/ a bent frame? And that's ignoring the fact that it'll now have a salvage title...

Plus, I've routinely seen cars at the bodyshop get totaled and appraised for about $27K, and insurance paid that amount in full. Not bad...
And I'm 100% w/ you re: driving requirements; in fact, I think the STANDARD driver's ed should include a CONSIDERABLE segment on advanced driving techniques. A Lexus that parallel parks? IMO, IF YOU CAN'T PARAELLEL PARK, YOU HAVE NO BUSINESS DRIVING. Really. I find it perplexing that the govt. will put you in charge of a several ton vehicle that you can cause EXTENSIVE damage to (to both person and property), w/ such ****-poor minimum standards for driving ability.
There's a reason the Germans have no speed limit on the Autobahn but still have fewer accidents and fatalities than we do. They have rules of the road that are followed (such as YIELD TO FASTER TRAFFIC), and it takes almost $3,000 US to get your license, including a driving exam that MANDATORILY includes driving in incliment weather - not just rain, but also snow.

G's 3rd Gen, sorry if I gave you the wrong impression. I'm the guy who comes up behind you in the left lane REAL strong, EXPECTING you to yield and move over. When you don't, I stick it out a few seconds, hoping you notice me lifesize in your rearview. If not, I straddle the shoulder and the left lane, making sure you can see me in your sideview. If you STILL don't move, then I won't hesitate to flicker my highbeams at times (unless that's too cumbersome like having to flick open pop-up lights). At that point, if nothing's worked, and you're being stubborn and oblivious to the faster traffic behind you, I WILL pass you quickly, give you a dirty look as I pass, and cut back in front of you quite close, to show my disdain for your lack of road etiquette. And should you be foolish enough to honk, I'll honk right back. And if you're ignorant enough to flicker or leave on your high beams at me as I pass and get back in front of you, I WILL brake check you, and HARD, just enough to leave a wetspot in your pants, as I drop a gear and take off before you undertake a personal encounter with my rear bumper. That's definitely me. I have absolutely NO patience for uncourteous drivers. I periodically check my rearview for faster drivers and have no problem yielding to them. I EXPECT the same.
Moreover, another thing that PISSES me off is lane changes w/o turn signals, because it's VERY dangerous. While I'm good at anticipating what ppl are going to do, you can't read someone's mind. Turn signals can save a life (I use my turn signals even when I'm cutting off slow left lane drivers btw LOL). But what's even worse is when I let you in in front of me, and you don't raise your hand to signal "thank you." in return. It's common courtesy. Again, ppl have lost their respect for others when driving, and it really gets to me.
But other than that, I'm a very calm, cool, collected driver. Really.

PS: I don't mean you specifically when I say "you"

Insurance companies are harsh about your credit history, your tags and basically anything they can find that tells them you are irresponsible because that tells them you most likley have poor judgement and thus conclude that if you make mistakes in life you'll make mistakes when driving.
Insurance companies care about FACTS/STATS etc... and nothing else really matters.

Fritz, I'm not sure where you stand, but I find it hard to correlate administrative issues with poor judgement. In my case, where the car's registration is expired, and I'm short on cash, it's poor judgement to drop the money into it on the spot. I waited a month or two until things were better, and (go figure), while I was driving it to the shop to get it repaired to pass emissions, I got nabbed. Unless there is a STRONG correlation between what the offense is and it's relation to safety (or lack thereof), I don't think insurance has the right to increase your premium for it. But unfortunately, in the State of VA, the insurance companies have the right (which was granted to them by some governing body in VA) to charge for A-N-Y-T-H-I-N-G that appears on your driving record, regardless of whether or not it has a direct (or indirect for that matter) correlation to your safety as a driver.

I wasn't attaching your situation only trying to bring to light how the insurance institution works.

My rates are pretty decent because of all those things previously mentioned. The biggest discount they give is probably for having good credit lol.
I've been using Allstate for atleast 10 years after Statefarm dropped me for reason I'd rather not divulge
