ABS light stays on -- How to ID issue?

The ABS light stays on all the time, pretty sure it is one of the speed sensors, but is there a simple way to check which one(s)?

Thanks

Same here. I drove my rx7 the other day for the first time in a few weeks and the ABS light stayed on the entire drive.

The front ones are pretty easy to check, just disconnect them and check them 0.8-1.2k ohms. The rears are a pain as they are connected under the rear bins. Is your light staying on when the car is started or does it come on when you start moving?

Any other way to check this? Mine only comes on when I start moving.

I seem to remember there's a blink code you can get from the ABS computer. Check the shop manual.

Most common problem is the sensors themselves, if the wiring gets damaged or it isn't bolted on flush.

Blink code wasn't on the 93, so it's check one by one.

If it ends up being the ABS CPU as opposed to one of the sensors I've got a ton of them...I have some sensors as well. Just let me know.

Usually its one of the wheel speed sensors. You can do the resistance test per the fsm as stated above, but really it is beneficial to have the mazda abs tester. I have one but I'm all the way in NJ.

ABS light doesn't come on when i turn on the car. when i start moving the abs light comes on and stays lit. I tested my speed sensor on the front passenger side with ohm meter reading 0.8-1.2 .. but when i spin the passenger wheel the ABS light comes on again. I turn off and on the car to reset the lights. I spin the driver side wheel and there is no light. the activated light due to spinning the passenger side points to a bad wheel sensor, but the Ohm readings read normal. anyone has any suggestions?

I have the same issue but I heard a humming sound coming from the ABS unit located on the passenger side in the engine bay. I took out the fuse for the ABS unit (I think it is a 60A one) and the humming sound stopped but now the light comes on. Maybe for you it is not the sensor maybe it is the abs unit itself... And maybe the fuse for the abs in the fuse box located in the engine bay is open

I checked all the fuses and they are in working condition. I have swapped the relays in the abs unit from a working and unit over to my car and still same situation. I checked the pins on the abs unit connector. They seem pretty solid. No corrosion and not burnt. Maybe I should bite the bullet and replace the abs sensor or the passenger front.

Bite the bullet and get the sensor

You can find them used for 75 or so

I have the same problem as well. I read some where that there is a ABS computer on the drive side of the trunk and you can do an ohm test on all four sides. I'm being lazy but I guess I'll get to it during my down time after my minor surgery.

problem is you don't know which side. I think each side has different length

I was think about doing this but it may not work because it's reading all 4 corners. the computer might still trigger the light because of the difference from other corner. I'm think ohm test on each sensor might be the only way

ABS Sensors are wheel specific, part# stamped on wire on sensor end:

RF FD04(05)-43-70X
RR ...............-43-71Y
LR................-43-72Y
LF................-43-73X

As Fritz said they go for $75 each Shipped
