ABS heat Shield

i was just wondering if there a differance with it on and with it off?.. iv seen some cars with it and some without.

without it you can get to bolts without cutting your arm in half.

i mean any disadvantage besides the getting to bolts? would heat kill the abs

It's there for a reason. The pre-cat is right next to it.

I guess if you have a ceramic or wrapped DP, you could remove it... but why would you want to? I pulled, built, and installed an engine among other major work on that side of teh block without it getting in the way once.

well maybe im not that skinny every time i mess with my exhaust i get all cut up!
but i also have a single so maybe the bolts are in alittle different than stock location.

A socket with two of the long extensions makes removing the bolts easy.

I have run with mine off for a while. But, only because I have had the turbos off trying different things this year. It's not hard to take it off, but it is something that I skip when I want to work on the car. To answer your question; I have not noticed a difference from when I had it on all the time. I will say that once I have things sorted out, I will have the shield back on before doing a track day.

Yeap, I worked on the stock turbos from underneath the car.

It is there for a reason. With a single not being heat sheilded well I'd think that is even more reason to keep it.

Think about this, the stock engine burns 255hp worth of fuel, it turns about the same amount of energy into heat, your car is burning 500hp worth of fuel. That is about 100% more heat energy.
