Don't know how bad other states are with policing minor car violations but it seems rampant here in Texas. Were one of few states (correct me if im wrong) that requires two license plates to be displayed front and rear. I refuse to comply with this sillyness

You are thinking in black and white terms and its not always like that. The form of reasoning/argument is as follows: Though the party did not cause the accident, it is evident that due to the lack of side markers (which is the law) he contributed to it. Therefore a certain percentage of fault is assigned.

Now depending on what happenned those percentages can vary. 10% your fault, 90% theirs. or 20% yours, 80% theirs ect...

The truth is that lawyers handle cases like kids play with trading cards. They look at what cards each other has and trade easily with no emotion behind it. Fact is they dont really care they just want to move on to the next case. Insurance companies fight a little harder because they dont want to payout but they work in very similar terms. One thing that applies for both lawyers and ins co: The faster they can settle a dispute, the better it is for THEM.

Agreed.

But most lawyers will work with you so that if you win the case, they win (more money). Of course you obviously have to pay them anyway but i believe in depends on the actual case, a lawyer will try their best so that YOU win, so that they will eventually extract more money for whatever you may get from the case. If you do win of course.

My wife's 2002 PT Cruiser does not have side marker lights.
Neither does my mothers 2004. I see many cars here in Texas without side maker lights like what we have on our FD.

From the wright up of the law, it did not say anything about marker lights on the side. It said you had to have turn signal lights and parking lights on each side of the vehicle on all four corners.

If he has a turn signal amber bulb and an amber parking light on each side of the front bumper, he is in the law. Take pictures of them operating and take it to court to fight the illegal ticket.

The trick on the PT cruiser and many similar cars is that the headlight kinda wraps around the corner so the yellow is actually visible from the side.

ah, fender light, forgot about that.

cops are too busy staring at my tint and muffler to notice the missing lights. they rather just give me the speeding ticket and let me go on my merry way
