M2 Ecu repair
M2 Ecu repair
Hi all,
I have a couple of questions,
I have an m2 stage 3 ecu which has been running lovely for years. Recently, ive had electrical problems and found that the ecu is at fault and Im looking at repairing it.
The problem appears to be one of the 2 smaller chips on the daugtherboard but I cannot find what part number it is as it has been scratched off by M2. All I can find is that it is made by ST electronics, and a SOP-14 type chip.
If anyone has an m2 ecu without the part numbers scratched off or knows of any replacement chips which will work, please let me know.
If I am unable to repair this, my other question is; will a pettit ecu provide more power than the m2 with the same mods (bolt ons, high flow and port). I am asking only because the pettit unit seems more available second hand than the m2 ecu.
Please do not suggest I get a pfc, I have been very happy with my rom tuned ecu for years of happy daily rotoring with many track days.
Thank you for your time,
Jon

I'm surprised it went back, stock (and modded) ECU's are VERY hardy and difficult to kill.
You'll probably be money ahead just buying another chipped ECU. Either that or get a stock ECU and swap the daughterboard with the ROM over. To do so you'll need to find someone who's VERY good with electronics, it's a lot of tricky desoldering/soldering.
Really, all the chipped ECU's are very similar if not the same. You will likely be great with most any chipped ECU.

I figured the pettit would be very similar in terms of performance. I'll get something should this be fruitless
I desoldered the suspect chip. Just need to know what it was in order to solder in a replacement
Really wish they didnt scribble the codes out
