The car could use a claybar, wax and polish. ****.. if it can do this to my FD, I bet it does wonders with BB.

I did polish it with an industrial strength body shop polish. Then I waxed it. The problem is that the car was repainted with shitty 1 stage paint and it looks really bad up close.

Lookin good, but how's that damaged turbine wheel holding up? For as much money as you have invested in this car, you can spend a hundred for a new turbine wheel. Wheel efficiencies are very very sensitive to imperfections.

Few hundred for a 42R wheel? If it's the hotisde, the shaft runs all the way through the turbo, which usually means you should rebuild it if you're taking the old one out. With a turbo that size, you're looking at spending at least $800 for the wheel and rebuild together.

I don't think it will cost that much. Turbine wheel is the hot side, so it goes all the way through the CHRA. Turbo rebuild labor is about 200$+wheel. There's no way the GT42 turbine wheel costs 600 dollars. If it does, I'll sell him one for 500$ :P

$200 for a rebuild on a BALL BEARING TURBO?!? Dood you gotta tell me where you're going. I paid $175 for the wheel on my HKS T51r KAI and the rebuild was $250 parts/labor included. So $425 total.

A Ball bearing rebuild is way more than $200.. I'd say at a minimum $500 + wheel. You know a place that'll rebuild a dual ball bearing setup for $200... please tell me.

They probably aren't. But I'd say 90% of the rebuilders are going to strongly recommend you replace the internals with the wheel. It's added peace of mind, and some places will even warranty their work.

But its still not cheap for the bb rebuild regardless.

Perhaps if he reuses the bearings that might work out.

I'm kidding, it didn't burn up. He did have to pull it off the dyno because of a faulty injector. Should have it fixed and back on the dyno soon
