93 BB Base Half-Bridge GT42R Project
Hey, recently I blew the engine on my 93 BB Base model RX7. This was 4 weeks before Steve Kan was coming up to tune my car.
It blew 4 days before I had to go back to school in Melbourne, Florida (FIT). I took it to Davinci Motorworks in Belleville, IL to have it compression tested. The rear rotor was fine, but the front rotor was not so lucky. No compression what-so-ever. So on my last day at home, my dad and I ripped out the entire block and put it on a pallet.
My dad sent it to RX7Store after I left to school. Xavier will be building my shortblock at RX7Store. He will be doing their Stage 4 (Half-bridge) motor. I believe that it will be a small or medium bridge, but I am not quite sure yet. They are also using 3mm apex seals and they are dowel pinning the motor as well. I am also getting the GroundZero LIM and gasket port matched with the motor. I am going for big numbers this time.
When my motor blew, my GT42R turbine wheel was slightly damaged. After showing pictures of the damage to Sean (A-Spec tuning), Xavier (RX7Store), and Steve Kan (Gotham Racing); I have decided to keep the turbo the way it is and see how it preforms when I get the car dynoed. All of these engine builders told me the damage was very minimal and it should only slightly affect the spool up of the turbo. Also, since the GT42R turbo is pricey, I have decided to see how my damaged one performs. After I get the rebuilt block put back in, I am having Steve Kan tune the car. The new motor won't go in until I get back from school after finals week in mid-May.

Good luck to your rebuild
I had my motor rebuilt by Xavier too, he did a great job on my ports, Stage 2 and I'm in the progress of having the engine ready to start along with a GT40R. Keep us posted and I hope that everything goes well.

Today, I sent off my steering rack to Maval in OH. They will be converting my power steering rack to a manual steering rack. The cost was $215.00 to use my good, low mileage core. If you don't have a usable core than tack on an extra $65.00 to the initial cost.
I will be keeping my AC though.

Since Defi decided to quit making their D series gauges I had a hell of a time trying to find them. But, I managed to find the two that I needed, Oil Pressure and Oil Temperature. I also got FlyRX7's 52mm "Quad-Pod" Center Speaker Gauge Pod in the mail. I had his "tri-pod" but I needed one extra pod so I sold it and got his "quad-pod." I also ordered a Greddy Type RS BOV that will be swaped out for my current HKS Racing BOV.
