8th mile time

I took my $7500 93 montego touring to the track, only mods are Hks downpipe, petit ast. With hockey puck tires i managed a 2.078 60ft 9.061 @ 78.28 Does that sound about right for a pretty close to stock car? Plus my chrome tips rusted off..less weight..

I checked on www.dragtimes.com and an RX-7 running low 9s in the 1/8 equates to about high 13s for the 1/4, so yeah I'd say you're doing about right.

I just went to the track last night as a bleacher warmer and saw (apparently) stock Civics and Accords running 11.0+ 1/8 miles. But boy, they sure thought they looked cool. heh. hah. haha. HAHAHAHA!

The sixty foot was achieved with a 4000 rev and slip till boost. It seemed to work well, no wheel hop or spin for that matter.

How do you slip the clutch? I thought when you race you just rev up the engine and drop the clutch.

Slipping the clutch is just like when you are driving away from a dead stop at regular speed. Just rev up the motor, let the clutch out just enough to get you moving fast, but to keep it from bogging. It is hard on your clutch, but if you are not running any kind of drag radial its the only way to get a good 60ft. This is what the dsm guys do with their awd's.

Took my car, 94 touring, auto, to the track the other nite. I was pretty dissapointed. Best time I ran was a 10.3. Pretty bad. Got beat by let me see, an older vette, suped up civic, and a 1st gen with a bridge port. Taking it in on Tuesday to have it looked at.
