6 puck clutches
I need to order a new clutch and am debating the street/strip disc vs. the 6 puck ACT. My future mods will probably require the greater clamping force (T-04E), so I don't want to buy a clutch now and have to upgrade it later.
How bad is the 6 puck in daily life? Could someone give me some qualitative and quantitative info about the 6 puck clutches. Thanks.

yeah, if you plan on driving it in nicer weather i would go with the 6 puck. not to say that ppl haven't driven the 6 puck in rain or anything. i have the ss kit and i wished i went with the 6 puck. i guess when i have my otor ported i will get the 6 puck.

The 6 puck is not made for daily driving and and if you deal with traffic, forget about it. I've known people that had 6 pucks and daily drove thier cars and they say they will never do it again. I know the s/s kit will hold low 11's.

I have a 6 puck springless clutch. Pretty harsh engagement.
If you daily drive your car and are in an area where there is a lot of traffic perhaps you should consider something else.
Daily driving it, I have gotten used to. But the in stop and go traffic is something I cannot stand.
Every gear shift is like a jolt to the car.

Go with the street/strip. It will hold a lot of power so you should not have to upgrade again. 6 puck is very very hard on the daily driver. Do a search...I have asked this question several times b4 in the search for a clutch.

I would have to agree with everyone here... I got a 6 puck McLeod/Revlock last year (bushings instead of springs)... It grips great.. but it is a total biznatch to drive in traffic. It has made me look like an idiot at times lurching from a stop... when I wasn't payin close enough attention... but I have to admit... it does its job and holds well... I wouldn't do it again.

I haven't driven a car with a 6 puck clutch but I've seen what the metal pucks do to the flywheel and pressure plate. The pucks really wear them harshly.
I have an ACT street clutch and it holds great, lots of drag racing would probably require a puck clutch though.

I installed the ACT HD p-plate and disc (it's an FD disc) on my 90 and it takes a lot of getting used to. I can't imagine what a 6 puck would be like. It requires greater care when starting and shifting, and traffic sucks. I would consider the HD kit my personal limit for a daily driver.
