325-350 Rwhp

Did search, got tons of info but need more idea.

After 18 mths drought I decided to sink some money into the 7, looking to get 325-350 rwhp with stock engine and turbo both have 54K miles.

Current mods: Steve Kan tune, PFC, intakes, SMIC, DP, Catback. Have 9.5 lb fw and ACT clutch set but not installed.

Budget: $5K

TIA

Resonated midpipe, Bigger SMIC or FMIC, Injectors and a fuel pump and your good to go for 350 easy.

pretty much what he said^

-midpipe/highflow cat
-fuel pump + injectors so you can run higher boost
-twin power
-fmic/v-mount/larger stock mount
-higher flow radiator
-another good tune

man i need to get my crap on a dyno. On my project/track car I'm running a straight 3" exhaust, big *** v-mount, street port, injectors, pump, twin power, and stock twins pumped at 15psi street tuned by me and it feels only slightly faster than my stock 7. It could be because im running a stupidly safe tune with the boost that high on 91 octane. I really don't know what is the limit with 91.

that is it?

Ok...that is good. Thought stock turbos would max out at that hp level. Probably wouldn't last long either.

by stupidly safe tune, do you mean your just running really rich?

at 91 octane you can handle around 13psi acording to a recent thread(without fuel additives or some sort of water/methanal injection)

so in otherwords you are saying that you have increased your cars output by 140HP (225 RWHP on stock FD) by upping the boost 3 lbs?

thats 46 HP per lb.

don't go crazy on the fuel system, you don't need a 1K dollar fuel system for that power level, hell you don't even need new injectors, you could do it on a stock fuel system with just an upgraded pump.

But I would go with 850 primaries and a re-wired supra pump with a milled primary rail.

I would keep the stock intercooler and add water or methanol injection, port the wastgate and re-tune.

Its not like thats the only thing I did, the mods listed above are all fitted to my car as well, and it was on 93 octance, havent dynoed since Ive been here in cali. Also was lacking any kind of ingnition at the time, at least upgraded, running the FC100 with TII coil now.

Thinking about it...there is one for sale locally to Dallas, TX.

But it is non-seq and if I could get away from stock twin that would be ideal.

At 15 psi you should def be 320+ whp and 100 whp more than a stock FD is a BIG difference. I know my car feels a lot slower when I run 10-11 psi versus 13 psi. And that's probably about a 40 whp difference. You said you tuned your car, question is, what are timing and AFRs like? A few degrees of timing and leaner mixture can get you 20 or more whp. Also, if you have boost falling off you're not going to be making the power. I had that problem myself. You live pretty close to me, there's a dyno shop in San Bernardino that charges $60/3 pulls, I paid them for 6 pulls and my car has never felt better. Best money I ever spent on my car.

Depends on who you talk to. You don't have to boost the crap out of them all the time at that level. There's quite a few guys from what I can tell who run that kind of boost (one guy runs 19+ psi) and have many thousands of hard miles on their setups. At that power level, I'd be more worried about the engine than the turbos.

I run 13 psi all the time on the street and at the drag strip. I use 91 octane. I keep my charge temps in check, however. You could push 15 psi on 91 if you can keep the charge cold enough, wouldn't be a smart idea to do it when it's 100 degrees outside and your car is heat soaked on a stock IC.

How many HP did you put down when Kan tuned it? I have a similar goal with similar upgrades (I have a HF Cat in addition to everything else you listed). Just had the car tuned and it put out 281 RWHP. I was hoping for 300, so I was a bit disappointed.

My tuner said with a Supra fuel pump, bigger secondary injectors and rail, and possibly a more efficient intercooler, I should be in the 350 range.

In all honesty I wouldn't be *too* hinged on a certain HP number. Dyno numbers are simply that, numbers. While you may show 320 whp on one dyno another could easily show you making 280 whp, it's all about a quality tune imo.

Just to ref though, I was making 280 whp at .85 bar with stock twins, stock ports and a stock fuel system (I *was* hitting IDC over 90% fairly regularly though).

With a good tune you should be able to hit these numbers (the dyno I use reads 18% lower than the ones in the states, on average) fairly easily with DP/HF-Cat/Cat-back, Intake, Ignition amp, a beefy SMIC, fuel pump and FPR (get an aeromotive one and turn up the pressure by 10psi, that will essentially turn your 850's into 1000's and you should have plenty of flow for your goals), and then A/I and possibly an EBC.

You've got most everything you need right now, just upgrade the exhaust flow, fuel and go water injection than turn up the boost. Obviously you will need to get it retuned after you make these changes.

I'd get:

- Hi-flow cat
- EBC
- Fuel pump
- FPR (set to 50psi)
- A/I system
- HKS Twin Power
- Banzai Racing Diff Brace
- Braided brake lines/better pads

Fuel + Cooling + Boost = more power, safely.

.
Im running about a 10:1 ratio and my timing is backed off fairly far for the fact that I have yet to use a dyno for this car. I can get on one for free, I have connections at the local college, its just a pain in the *** to set up as it usually means taking a day off from work. Laziness settles in =(

It was street tune not dyno...after 8 runs averaging 130 mph on hwy 287 I was just happy to hear Steve's estimation of 260-270 rwhp.

My fuel pump was what hold back the tune not wanting go over 12 psi.

Have Supra pump and set of 1200 cc to installed but they were sold last year...I wasn't myself then.

Honestly if I get 325 rwhp, I am satisfied.

Supra TT pump, bigger injectors and a tune and you're well into that RWHP range AND still have money left over.

And still get a couple more bucks from selling the core parts.

^ honestly I would go with something a little bigger than the Supra pump. If I remember correctly GoodfellaFD3s was running out of umph with his supra pump at 17 psi.

The Bosch 044 is overkill, but it will DEF provide enough fuel, the GTR pump may be a happy medium though.

GoodfellaFD3S was running out of umph at 17 psi, but could have remedied that with a wiring upgrade adding more voltage to his pump. Dale Clark swears by this mod. OR adding a boost a pump like Howard Coleman does (runs a cosmo fuel pump, which probably flows less than a supra pump).

supra pump is good for 500rwhp accord to supraforum, when you have the corrct fuel pressure from the FPR
