I apologize if this is being posted in the wrong place. My '93 has the OEM glass sunroof however there is no way to block out the sun as there is no shade cover. After some research, I see that there are OEM black panels that attach from the outside sliding it into place however I have also read that they are for '94 model year FD. I found a Tan color sunroof shade cover for sale and the seller says that it is off of an FD but he doesn't know the year. It has tan fabric on one side and 7 plastic clips on the other. He says it simply clips into place. I'd really like to buy it but I'm not sure it's actually for an FD......does anyone have any idea if it will work with my car? Any information would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
Thank you and I have actually seen that reproduction. My interior is tan with tan headliner so that's why I'm so interested in the one I found. Is it possible that the seller is mistaken and it's actually for an FC?
That’s just the tan trim piece for the metal sunroof, glass roof cover was made in black only. You can purchase both and see if you can transfer the tan skin over to the black cover.
Just to be clear, 93's had metal sunroofs, 94-95 had glass.
Also if you have tan interior and a glass sunroof someone did some parts swapping. Only 93's had a tan headliner as an option, 94+ was black only. Most likely someone put a glass sunroof on.
You can also look at having the sunroof ceramic tinted. It makes a HUGE difference in the amount of heat that comes in. I would estimate $100-ish to have the job done at a professional tint shop.
Even though the code red version is black, it can very easily be made tan or purple or alligator skin. Upholstery shops can do just about anything with anything.
I think both metal and glass were offered at some point in '94. I had a '94 with a metal sunroof but have seen glass on the same model year. Both low mile OEM cars.
