13B cosmo engine

Hey guys, I'm happy to say that I'm a newly converted RX7 owner from being an Eclipse owner (what was I thinking when I bought that car?).

Anyways, I had a question about engines. What does it mean if the engine is a 13B cosmo? Being new with these engines, I'm not too familiar with the term.

Also, not too sound too much like a dumbass, but what does "FD" stand for?

Thanks for any help guys.

FD is just a way of saying 3rd gen rx-7, the ones made in the us from 93-95... FC is for 2nd gen... etc.

cosmo is the name of a car. There is no such thing at least here in Japan of a cosmo 13B, due to the fact I believe the Cosmo was only made with the 20B stock.
My mistake I found later that there is a 13B also.
sorry...........

Canman you're lucky I was going to correct you. lol They did make 13B powered Cosmo's. We don't see the cars here though, only Japan, and probably aussies and europe get them. Also I believe a Cosmo motor has bigger ports than a regular 13B REW which is why alot of people use them/want to get one. Don't know if the turbos are the same or not though.

Here's a 13B powered Cosmo:

13B re(that's the cosmo 13B engine) has the same ports as an FD, but the motor mounts are more similar to the FC, which is why ALOT of FC owners here are looking for cosmo 13B engine's. Similar motor mounts, but with bigger secondary ports than a stock FC.
