Car Test 2000, but I'm skeptical of its results, which is why I err on the side of caution. I list the numbers only for comparison purposes (numbers for one car are comparable to those of another car because the algorithms to generate them are the same) or for an estimate of what the car could run, but I left the shift time purposely high, set the coefficient of friction on the tires to "sticky street tire", and left it at that. I'd be surprised if the car ran what the program says it'll run, and I'd be the first to say that it's highly unlikely to happen on the first few times at the track.

Rules differ a little from track to track, but this is pretty much standard per NHRA guidelines...

HELMET
Drivers of all 13.99 and quicker cars, and passengers in 14.00-14.99 cars must wear a helmet meeting Snell 90, or SFI 31.1 or 31.2 specs. Effective 1/1/2002, Snell 85 helmets are no longer legal for use.

DRIVESHAFT LOOP
Cars running 13.00 and slower on street tires do not require a driveshaft loop. Any car running 12.99 or quicker and any car running slicks must have a driveshaft loop.

The loop must fully encircle the driveshaft and must be made of 1/4" thick by 2" wide (or equivalent) steel, and be mounted within 6 inches of the front driveline universal joint.

ROLL BAR
Unless otherwise required by a class, convertibles running 11.00-13.99 require a roll bar, as do cars running 11.00-11.99.

This is a 5-pt. bar minimum, requiring a one-piece main hoop, two rear bars, and at least a driver's door bar. Padding is mandatory anywhere the driver's helmet may contact the bar, and the roll bar must be welded to the frame or to 6" x 6" plates welded or bolted to the unibody. If bolts are used, a backing plate below the floor pan must be used for increased strength.

ROLL CAGE
Roll cages are required on convertibles running quicker than 10.99 or faster than 135 mph. Roll cages are also required on roofed cars running 10.99 or faster than 135 mph also, with one exception. Full bodied cars with unaltered firewall, floor, or body (from firewall rearward, wheel tubs allowed) can compete with just a roll bar.

TRANSMISSION
Cars running quicker than 10.99 or faster than 135 mph must have a transmission shield meeting SFI 4.1 spec. Automatic transmission cars must have an SFI 29.1 spec flexplate and flex plate shield meeting SFI 30.1 spec.

CHASSIS INSPECTION AND COMPETITION LICENSE
Faster than 9.99, you need a chassis sticker and the car must be inspected every 3 years. Vehicles running quicker than 9.99 require that the driver has an NHRA competition license.

SAFETY HARNESS
All cars in competition requiring a roll bar or roll cage must have a quick-release 5-pt. 3" shoulder harness meeting SFI 16.1 spec and dated by the manufacturer. The system must be updated at 2-year intervals from the date of manufacture. Cars using OEM seats may route the crotch strap in front of the seat instead of through the seat.

BATTERY CUT-OFF SWITCH
If the battery has been relocated from the stock position, an external cut off switch must be mounted on the back of the car which cuts off the electrical system and stops the car from running.

Hi Ryan,

Thanks for posting your mods. You'll definitely be in the 11's with 14 - 15 psi. For sure w/drag radials.

What were your 60 ft times with the street tire?
I think the best I could ever do with street tire was 1.96
sec. at the 60 ft.

congrats again. Wow your first time out too...
You're a naturally gifted driver. sincerely jc

damn how the hell are you guys getting such a low 60' time? I went on saturday and the best 60' time i got was 2.35. i get so much wheel hop i need to let go of the throttle or switch to 2nd. I want to get drag radials but in the meantime how could i eliminate wheel hop through technique? Right now i am dropping the clutch at about 3250 then punching the gas. I didnt try yet to ease into the gas after i drop the clutch...is this what you guys are doing?

BFG makes great drag radials. I've heard Nitto makes some good ones too, but I've never used them.

Thumbs up

i like that fat *** engine torque brace you got on your motor... that must've helped in speeding up shifting.

my engine mounts are worn out and shifting super fast from 2nd to 3rd mishifts. i hear the brace gets rid of that because the motor dosent torgue as much.

how long have you had it... and i'm wondering if its slowly pushing out your fender.

Ryans a skilled driver and can get a better time. He only got one go before they wanted a helmet or no racing. I think it's a respectable pass. Again he was only tapping into 11 psi. Mods...
