Uptick in activity lately
Has anyone noticed there seems to be way more activity lately in the 3rd gen forums compared to a few years ago? I’m guessing from all the new kids importing cars from Japan? I see a lot more RHD builds around. Also the car has been growing in popularity due a lot of YouTuber builds and people clout chasing on IG, I’m guessing. Thoughts?

I think you nailed a few of the points.
RHD has reduced the entry price in some, or many cases. The more cars that are available, the more they are shown off, and the more others are interested in them.
Also, in my case, this was a car I longed for as a kid and there's probably many of us in that age range that are now able to afford them.
These cars also aren't getting any younger so some of the activity uptick is chasing more gremlins

Also maybe they’re realizing that if they want actual advice, they won’t be finding it on FB or IG.
Also I've been posting a lot recently, I think half the activity is from me

I need to find a more serious way to use the FB groups, I hate how it hides replies and it's hard to follow a post along. It also doesn't help that the format lends itself to short responses and funny pictures. Also any real knowledge is lost to time quickly, you pretty much can't search old posts on FB.
But, there has been a lot of new products debuting on FB and of course getting some younger enthusiasts. Help and encourage everyone and we all win.

Some of it could be that a lot of us who were exposed to the car when we were teenagers can now finally afford it. I was in middle school when Tokyo Drift came out, and since I saw Han's Veilside FD, I've always wanted one. I have lurked these forums for 10+ years, following build threads and soaking up as much knowledge as possible, especially when Dale or Howard post anything. Now that I'm in my mid 20s with a job, I'm in a situation where I can afford to purchase the car and build it right. I think that combined with social media and people being home all day with the coronavirus, can see why there is an uptick in posts.

Im currently in the process of importing my RX7 at the moment. I think the 25 year rule has opened up alot more access to these cars and as AE_Racer was saying the kids who grew up idolizing these cars are finally able to afford them. I sold my Evo X to get one.
This was me. Until I pulled the trigger on my CYM 2 years ago, I joined the forum just to read. It's paid off tremendously as well because I was really good about saving threads, just in case I had to refer to them later...
