Hi, i have a 1999 rx7 that came from Japan with keyless entry. After 12 years of usage, it still works. Anyway i am a bit concerned of losing my only key fob. I can only open my car with the key fob, there are no key holes! Is there any way to get a second matching key fob? The one i use can be Seen in the attached pic.
Is this an Aftermarket kit i have in my car, or the OEM keyless entry?
That may be the OEM fob, they are VERY uncommon as it was a JDM dealer option.
Does the fob have any numbers or codes on it?
If you can find a new one, just swap the circuit board inside to the new case and buttons. I did that with the aftermarket fob I have for my car recently.
It's not going to be easy to find a replacement fob. The more I look the more I'm certain that's aftermarket, and it could be JDM aftermarket. That could be VERY hard to find.
There could be other fobs that would work. Most aftermarket systems have some sort of procedure to pair a fob to it. But, again, with it being JDM possibly finding any documentation would be difficult.
You're going to have to do some more digging, see if you can find the receiver module in the car, see if the circuit board has some marking, brand, or code numbers.
It's really weird that the car has no key holes or a regular key. Sounds like some aftermarket customization was done. Even today all the keyless Mazda's come with at least 1 door that is open-able with a regular key, and that key is typically part of the fob, like pictured here as a backup (my 2014 Mazda 3 example)
Here is the component list for the Japanese market keyless entry kit:
While some individual components have separate part numbers, the key fob does not appear to have its own part number.
The keyless entry box does have a pairing mode (see https://www.rx7club.com/3rd-generati.../#post12489637) so it may be possible that a Mazda key from the same era that uses the same technology could mate with it. That process could be a bit of a crapshoot, though.
The keyless entry FOB you have is actually the optional extra type that doesn't have a key built in (part number G06T-v7-601).
The standard type FOB allows you to insert a key. The part number for an additional programmable FOB is C901-V7-601. This can be ordered from a Mazda dealership in Japan through services like Nengun, Amayama etc (or who I use, Jesse Streeter).
You can also buy key blanks from Mazda to fit into the fob part number i provided (basic metal key blank without plastic end is F1Y2-76-202). Yoo can then get the key cut at a locksmith to match your locks.

Problem solved for now. While taking some pictures, i was able to move the metal part over the rear key hole a bit so that it eventually fell off. Is was just glued on it seems. I could open my car with a regular key afterwards. I think, the Same has been done to the door handles.
Thanks for your help! I still consider buying a second Key fob and would Like to know how to setup it.
Maybe that was just a preventative measure to having some joker stick a screwdriver in there, which has caused me a new lock before, and having to carry miss-matched keys.
