I still have it. It sits in my garage right now just waiting. The boss and I are planning to go to VIR soon when his LSX Boxster ready.

I'll take that invite. When is the track car challenge this year?

Should be in July and then it will be followed up with NASA TT or racing etc.... on the weekend

Would love for some other FDs or any RX7s to show up

If you or anyone else can make it I highly recommend it. REALY cool event with crazy FAST cars. Last year the winner ran a 1.45 on VIRs full course and lots of other cars in the 1.50s

See results page: http://timingscoring.drivenasa.com/N...INAL%20ALL.pdf

I wanted to share anikas FC, the caliber of this car is shown by the pics, very dual purpose, ac too

"last time out i was a 1:52 @ heartland park topeka 2.5 mile course. kansas speedway i ran a 1:35. not blazing fast by any means but ok. This was without the blower and there is a ton left in the car as i am still developing it.

and btw my car weighs 3100 with me and full tank - i weigh 220, full interior, ac and extra ballast in the rear for class rules, 8 point roll bar, runs on r888's. no radio though haha full exhaust."

Perfect example of a UTCC car

Anika if you sign up please let me know and I'll do my best to be there I'll also try to talk Eric Campbell and Pete into doing it as well. That would be 4 RX7s in the UTCC which would be super cool

Just looked through Grassroots' stuff for UTCC - you can really bring any car? How is this event not over-run with ex-ALMS and WC cars? You guys should see the "amateur"-level stuff that shows up to some of our events here in Socal lol.

July is far enough away that it allllmmmoooosssttt seems possible to make it... haha

VIR is one of the premier tracks on the east coast so similar to what you'd see at say Laguna that's what shows up at VIR on a regular basis. We'll see cup car race teams show up at PCA events etc......

Would love to see a vid of you and your car circling Laguna or some other famous Ca track

Haven't seen an ALMS car yet at the UTCC but who knows one may be there this year and that's what's so cool about the event. You just never know what's going to show up. Also it's really cool to go out on track with famous pro drivers and find out how your lap times match up to the very best drivers in .5 million dollar race cars.

An ALMS car now has the track record besting the old F1 record

Graf, Muscle Milk take VIR pole with record lap | Autoweek

Here are some testimonials from VIRs website

Driver Testimonials | Virginia International Raceway

You will absolutely have a blast if you can make it. Also lots of track time if you combine it with the NASA event that weekend. You can get even more track time if you combine the UTCC with open track/test and tune.

Congrats on the feature Armen Our cars are very similar in mods and appearance. I have to say I am not impressed with the video at all. It's not because he didn't praise the RX7 but because he didn't have the right perspective. I don't even know what they were trying to achieve with this video but I suggest they watch some Best Motoring, Hot Version and Top gear videos before making a feature on a unique piece of machinery.

There are Ferrari 360s with LS engines which make more torque and power than the original 360 engine, I bet the LS versions are more reliable too

Comparing the 13B to a Ferrari V8 (which at the time, was the highest specific output of any N/A production engine) is quite telling.

That being said, I wouldn't be opposed to having an LSx in a 360 if I could do it affordably haha. Having a few good LSx's and not much money makes me a degenerate!

Thanks man,

LOL I actually use the same comparison all the time, except I use the Ferrari flat 12 (one of my favorite engines). Makes less hp, tq and im sure its reliability stinks but which would u rather have?

That FC looks the business. I wish my FD was in the east coast so I too can drive on VIR. Mastering that track is definitely on my bucket list.

All the SoCal drivers,

May 9th there is a speedventures event at Streets of Willow. $140 early registration. Lets make this a east and west coast friendly v8/rotary shenanigan. Weather should be perfect.

I liked both cars in the video, but the driver did seem kinda bored with both FDs. WTH, what a fat bastard! Most gearheads would be happy comparing these two unique FDs on the same day with a test drive. Matt needs to be in a truck testing market where he can compare gassers to diesels and talk about how much work it takes to move his fat, boring ***.

Rotary/v8

I own a v8 mustang and an fd. For me I love cars and respect the engineers who put time and effort to make them enjoyable for us. Each car is unique. With that said I love both cars but would not put a rotary in the stang nor put a v8 in the fd no matter what. When I start the stang I love the rumble and torque. When I start the fd I love that rotary turbo sound and high revs. V8s are dependable but a well built rotary also is with the right setup and maintenance. To each their own though this is just my take on this subject.

Yep, exactly how I feel. The engine is a huge part of a cars identity but especially when you are talking about something that's completely different or the exact opposite of a V8.

Cool review and pretty much spot on The v8 is completely practical and dominates every aspect except handling which you can always tweak to your liking. The rotary is for us guys who prefer something different and really so is the entire car. It's like nothing else until you put a v8 in it

Was there a higher specific output 1.3L N/A or F/I engine at the time? My point was related to uniqueness and originality factor. Testing a LSx swap on a rotary car doesn't prove anything and quite pointless imo. It's like testing Ohlins coilovers on a Citroen DS

Really nice video Armen! Production quality was premium it was really refreshing to see the fd being featured now a days.

It kinda bothered me that Farah seemed really biased toward the LS, which kinda ruined it for me. He summed it up at the end nicely, but you can clearly tell which he preferred. Was still a great watch

He liked the V8 powered RX-7 better, that's not a 'bias'... that's his opinion. It's an opinion video, that's what he's giving.

My FD is going to be featured on TUNED-rlesaiq.jpg

I made a few passes at Fontana. Not too bad. Had to run 4th gear way past peak power because shifting to 5th was going to be slower.
