No, what I mean is if you are not a member you have to answer a security question to do a search. The security questions are hard and you have to stop and think about it and it says wrong answer when your answer is correct. Looks like it's designed that way intentionally. Don't know what the big deal is if a non member wants to check out RX7 related threads Glad our forum isn't like that.

On the supercar issue. I think it was first used to describe the Countach and I have never been sure that it had any particular definition or specificity. Is a Countach or Testarossa still a supercar? Maybe its like presidents? If you were once president, you are always referred to as president? (Except, perhaps in Obama's case.) I never used the term personally and think of it as more of a journalist's term of art. I have no idea what merit the term really has and never think of owning a supercar, although I really like the term exotic, and have the opinion that the FD is an exotic car due to the advanced suspension design and rotary.

Love the 993's.

Gordon
Fair enough, a little jealous you were able to get such a fantastic car at such a young age. Can't say I'm TOO jealous though as I bought my first FD at 19, with some help as well (a CU).

I think there are certain cars that are on such a level of performance you almost have to call them supercars because no other word, not even exotic, does them justice. Think Bugatti Veyron, Koenigsegg CCX, Pagani Zonda, or McLaren F1. That said (and I believe I've mentioned it before) there is a difference between a supercar, and a super car. The later is what I would label things like most Ferraris and Lamborghinis when new, or a Porsche GT2, but only a select few cars are good enough to be able to combine the two words into one. They must be icons, which is why I'm not 100% sure the Zonda or CCX is even on that level.

Viking, car 2 and 3 are look fantastic.

Don't forget another great modern supercar, the SLR. Even if it is a "benz", the entire car is carbon fiber. 0-60 in mid 3 seconds. And it can stop from 120-0 in less than 250ft.

Its a monster. And def can hang with said supercars you mentioned.

Out of curiosity, what's the going rate for one? And is insurance about the same as a motorcycle?

So Gordon, how about that beautiful E30 you got? A friend of my picked up one in pretty decent shape with 56k miles on it for $6k. Apparently 2 owners down had a ///M 325is badge and was under the impression that it was a 325. The car just needed new suspension and new seats which has been replaced with Recaro Speed ones.

I paid mid 20s but I'm patient. Typically expect mid 30s. Full coverage is $32.00 a month for insurance.

#3 belongs to Synth19, his car is one of the very few Imola's.

not crazy about those nsx interiors...a little too pimp my ride-ish. seems like nsx owners are very sensitive so i'll stop here.

back on topic, imho, sportscars in the 90's offer the best mix of modern comfort and pure motoring...if i had to give up my FD, i would replace it with a 993. and that's what i did.

I posted those pictures because I wanted to show Gordon how extreme people will go on their interiors. Same can be said for the RX7 guys.

So you have a 993? How is that compared to the FD. I was considering one before I bought my last FD.

(staying on topic.. I like the NSX but wouldn't trade the FD for it)

I keep a short list of cars I can't afford in my desk at work. Its more of a list to one day replace the DD (BMW 335i coupe) but I can't see myself parting with the FD, it's just unique and puts a smile on my face like nothing else.

- 997 C2S / GT3 / turbo ( There are a lot of 911's I'd consider) (2005+)
- Aston martin vantage (Nice car, but its 3600 lbs and 375hp) (2006+)
- e92 BMW M3 (2008+)
- Nissan GTR
- Caddy CTS-V (the 550 hp one)

all of these cars are too heavy, except the 911. My next car is probably a 911, but I plan on keeping the FD and selling the BMW.
