If you had to give up your FD
1) Did not effect median priced sports cars that followed
2) Did not effect supercars that came after it like the CCX, which has a vastly superior carbon fiber chassis
3) Borrowed from production sportbikes that came before it like the GSXR series
There is nothing original about the NSX. It is a footnote in the sports car world.
Good points there, but $35k in 1993 equals $52,00 today, so comparing apples to apples, if the FD came out today, it would be in the Cayman and Corvette range. In addition to the Supra, 3000GT, and 300ZX, the Japanese sports cars also failed because most buyers in that price range could have afforded a Corvette in 1993 (not saying its better, and certainly not the 1993 corvette vs RX-7)
Because I'm having such a great time in here.
When's the last time someone rented a Helicopter and put this much production into a RX7 video? heh

Lest we forget:
"With the exceptions of top speed, speed at the end of the quarter mile, and 0-30 and 0-40 mph times, our RX-7 R1 beat the Acura NSX in every objective performance test--and costs about half as much." - Motor Trend 4/92

ads like that make me look forward to my next run-in with an NSX, which will end like all the others before it - the owner may naively believe he can "reach into the sky", but that sky will be filled with the pungent smell of rotary exhaust mixed with two stroke oil
Not sure what comparing Honda's relatively immense marketing budget (with its paid promoters) to Mazda proves?

Since you have this deep hate for me and or the NSX, If you could, just put me on your ignore list. I'll do the same for you.
Chief, if you take criticism of your car personally, you have issues. It's a car. I do not hate you or any NSX owner. People can bash the FD all they want, it's not going to hurt my feelings (and believe me I got tons of heat on S2KI), but sorry if you are offended.
Just as a fore-note: I think the NSX is a sexy car. I mean it resembles a super-car, you have to be lying to yourself to say you don't like the way it looks. anyway....

AE86 hands down. Call me crazy but there was a point were I was almost wishing I would have gotten an AE86 instead of my fd
Finally FULLY come to my senses.
But in all seriousness, a decent AE86. There's one guy who lives in my area with a 13b swapped AE86. It's rockin.
Haters gonna hate.
*Flamesuit on*

This thread is getting to be pointless..
How can you debate with someone whether or not a car is or is NOT special/significant/unique/fun/cool/stylish/etc...
It's going to come down to opinions in the end.
We all like different cars for different reasons. The vehicles that we would each choose as an alternative/replacement for the FD will vary from person to person.
It's like someone made this thread with the intention of getting everyone pissed at each other! lol
......Genious!
P.S. With that being said....I would still rock a Datsun 240, 260, 280Z with a 2JZ motor pushing 400+rwhp. ^.^
har har harrrr

Secondly, I am not trying to change people's feelings and emotions about Supra. Just like everyone in here I love my RX7 way more but I'm also unbiased enough to see a Supra, NSX and GTR are just as successful as a RX7 or in other words made just as big of an impact in world automotive history. This is what some people don't understand. What I am saying has nothing to do with my thoughts and feelings, it's facts and figures. Some like Ferrari, some like Porsche, different lay-outs, different success in different motorsport events etc but doesn't mean only the lighter, better handling and better looking one is unique or will become a collectable.
Because I'm having such a great time in here.

I dont even think people have done a video like that for ferraris, lambos etc.
Naaah man what insecurities? Honestly, I expected to see a huge FD bias here and I'm surprised it hasn't been.
I don't think people mind hearing suggestions about what cars might be better than the FD. I think about that all the time. I want an exige and an NSX in the worst way. Just because another car might drive better and look better, it doesn't make the FD any less timeless and unique. It also doesn't make it any less desirable. People go nuts over the miata but there are certainly faster and IMO better looking cars around but the combination of its roadster heritage, excellent driving dynamics and modern day reliability make it awesome even today. Everyone has opinions on what is what but that is what forums are for. We discuss. We don't just listen and not respond. I think that would be pretty lame (although we are pretty off topic by now).
BTW Rob, nice FD haha. Still waiting on my bodyshop guy to give me a quote on my fender.

Look at how many pages this thread got after viking posted his NSX. LOLOL
Then someone says it doesnt bother them, its a car?
So like why post 34983948398 times to that one subject? lol
In the end, its still subjective and opinionated on what's "better". There is no "better", but there is a "better" car to move onto FOR YOU. Meaning each person will have their own understanding on what is the better car AFTER they have owned the FD.
Thats what the original topic is supposed to be about here. But then people got mad because they feel like the cars being mentioned are "better" than the FD. And thats how this whole thing started.
Told you man. Its feelings and insecurities. lol
Trust me.
I dont own a FD but these are some japanese cars on my shortlist with the cheapest being my most likely next car I purchase due to my low budget for a car hobby. I probably won't pick up another Japanese car for 3-5 years while I develop wealth and income, I currently own a *stock* red 95 miata that never gets pulled over or requires expensive maintenance costs.
20v MK1 MR2
20v AE86
MK1.5 MR2 with 400whpish 3rd gen 3sgte
10/9 sec MKII MR2 Turbo
Mica Yellow 2002 SE Miata
Every car Ive ever owned has been a 2 seater, RWD, Manual, 80's/90's Japanese sports car, hence my interest in the FD RX7 and the above list.
