Your buddie needs a drop, but honestly, the nsx looks like a toy car in comparison. The FD pulls off this same look.

I almost picked up a 93 NSX back when I was 18, but at the time I was told I had to buy a new car & not a used one, so I ended up with a 350z. To bad I can't go back and change that decision. FML!

Again, its my horrible experience with my previous dealing with NSX owners that makes me bit more bias.... also, If I get one, I'll be using it as a daily and NSX is no longer an option as I need a 4 seater.

Regarding M3, I see the new '10 M3 every day as one parks in my garage and another one at my child's daycare. I do like the looks of the new one and have mentioned it to my wife... I now need to go test drive one and see I know my wife wants an BMW as her next daily and maybe I could convince her to get one.

Not saying i want that type of attention but that must feel REALLY good.

Its like you finally arrived in life.

I think an NSX is the closest thing to an actual exotic. Especially one that modifies it cosmetically. They seriously look amazing. Anyone who denies really is not a car enthusiast and just being biased towards the FD.

And yes the FD is tiny compared to other cars. When i park side by side with my altima, to get something out of it, i pull up next to it and im like wtf, its like an SUV compared to the 7. And im not tall at all, only 5'9 but i still find myself squeezing myself in and out, like im hopping in the car through the window lol.

1QWIK7, I do think NSX is a great looking cars... especially stock updated body with some nice wheels. I like Viking's and 02+ non pop ups (I used to not like them but now I do). I guess same could be said about 99 bumpers on FD... back in the days when I was running 99 bumpers so many people told me they hated the license plate on the front, now it seem people don't mind it.

Attention getting I'm sure its nice pending who you are getting attention from. Example, my riced out FD gets attention from young teens who knows nothing about FDs... then there are those who know what I did to it and their attention is more appreciative to me. And this is when I think it separates most NSX owners vs. FD owners... we tends to mod our cars and constantly wanting to know more about and see what we can do. At my event DGRR, I see 65+ FDs and all are different when hood is opened. Most NSX I've seen seems much much more similar one to another. I also think we are talking about different social economic status people owning them too.. Like some NSX owns stated when comparing to the newer Z06, most NSX owners will need to have CASH to purchase their car vs. getting a loan. Now, how many of FD owners have 30 to 50K in cash? And if you did, would you 'try' to learn to fix your car or would you rather just take it somewhere to get it fixed?? I appreciate more for those who turn wrenches and enjoy turning them... but at the same time when time is lacking, I wouldn't mind taking it to someone...

PS... again, I'm bias about NSX.. hence I'm more vocal when NSX topic arises on this forum

Way, way, way too many Bimmers covering the roads like flies - the M3 is nice (and heavy), but it's a road to mediocrity

What makes the FD so much fun is most people don't know what it is - and they always underestimate it. When you drive a vette or an M3 everyone knows what you have...

The only BMW product I would own is the new S1000RR - now that is a radical machine

Not even close. A car that dog slow is not exotic by any defintion. The stock NSX is laughable in terms of acceleration.

After daily driving my FD for a few years I was sick of the attention from other people and the police. After a lot of looking around, thinking, and test driving I bought my M3. After driving it for a few years now I understand why so many people have them (3 series) and why it wins so many awards year after year. I will be daily driving either an M3 or a higher end 3 series for a long time, they simply combine everything I want into one car like no other (now other people obviously have different wants/needs). And there is a benefit to blending in, I drive very fast in situations that my FD would have gotten me pulled over! That being said I will never sell the FD even though I will sell the M3 to get a newer one.

What are you blabbing about now dude? Who said i'm "promoting" myself about anything? Seems like dissecting everyone's post and then breaking them apart because it doesnt comply with what you feel seems like an ENDLESS theme WITH YOU.

You need to learn to comprehend what you read first, then learn to relax, then learn to just accept because this is getting rather old. You make zero sense and it shows time and time again.

Hasn't your RECENT ban been ANOTHER hint for you? Or are you just waiting for the perma ban to just happen? I've had PM's about that already man, im just waiting for it to happen so your thoughtless, aimless theories about subjects you know nothing about can finally be eliminated from this forum.

Viking's NSX is not just a "regular" NSX. Just as phil's FD is not just a "regular" FD.

So all all the mods that were put on those cars, quality parts, having HP MORE than stock, then keeping it in pristine condition like those cars i just mentioned is a tough feat.

And in your own words in another thread, adding mods "increase the value of the car" lol.

So going by that, viking's NSX and phil's FD are worth a good chunk of change.

When all is said and done and you look back at the car and the history, you can finally say, "i've arrived".

That was the point i was getting at but i didnt expect your feeble mind to understand that.

?

lol @ using acceleration as your primary source in determining what is an exotic or not.

Shows how much you know. Im quoting you in case you decide to edit your post so people can see what a moron you are.

So a ferrari 360 modena can run "ONLY" ran a 12.8 in the 1/4. So thats not an exotic?? LOL

Please quit while you're ahead dude.

Nice looking FD in the garage there. Here in Charlotte the Bimmer 3 Series really is the new Camry, or so it seems - that and G35s/Zs...ugh. Big ol fat sedans to carry lard asses around. I can honestly say - even if I had never owned one - when I see an FD on the road I always say to myself 'that looks like a sports car on a crash diet', making all the others look preganant - and the NSX like the batmobile from 15 years ago

I hate the feel or lack there of that a German engine has. I like the brute force of American engines, the quiet, refined feel of Audi, BMW, etc. leave to much for me to desire. They are very nice cars, and I can appreciate what they are they just lack that oomph, that unrefined feel that other engines bring.

If I could, I would get the Ford GT, or an original Shelby Cobra since we are talking of "wishlist" cars or maybe a nice 50's vette. There are really no new cars out that inspire me, I would need something that just blows me away and I haven't found anything like that yet.

I would have to think very long and hard for a car I actually lust after that is less than 50 years old, although an NSX is one of the few cars I have never driven so who knows.

A older car that will no longer out perform the new doesn't means it will lose the title of being an exotic car. It is the way it is designed, build, and performed during the era it was created. For example, the Ferrari F40 and Porsche 959 will always be that special car in the hearts of many. NSX was the first to have special material as a mass produced car in which others followed. The contribution to the industry is immense. If you look back, let's say Road and Track magazine and check out the 0-60 mph time, NSX was actually on the top 5% or so for 12 years, that is rather remarkable. The 2002 issue where the only car that was faster were Lamborghi Murcierlargo, Gallardo, Ferrari Enzo/360, Porsche Turbo, Mclaren F1. Cars to match were M3/M5, some of the AMG MB, but that's about it.

That is quite a record for a car that was 12 years old.

NSX is a super and exotic car, the only thing on the car that wasn't was the badges.

I think my decision on what would replace my FD has a couple different factors.

1.) Price. Unlike a surprising bunch of you here, I personally can't, nor would if (if I could) spend $40k-$80k for cars like an M3, Skyline, or even a C6.

2.) Rarity: I agree with some of the aforementioned statements regarding the joy that comes with driving an extremely rare and unique car, that anyone will acknowledge, but only a select few can really appreciate.

I love Vettes and an M3's as much as the next guy...but a BMW is still a BMW, and when some mid-life crisis man or woman is driving the same car as me, that doesn't fly with me, either. And lets not forget that how many Vette or M3 owners do you know actually perform the hands-on labor of maintaining let alone modifying their car? Not many. The FD is still a tuner car to me, one that you can work on in your OWN garage, and not be afraid of "voiding the warranty". Tch!

4.) Unique: Anyone with a lot of money can purchase a BMW, a Corvette, NSX, Skyline...whatever....but take a second and look at yourself as an FD owners. We own a car that is almost 20 years old, we fix them up, make them baddass, and then people young and old acknowledge and respect it, because even if they don't know WHAT it is...dammit, they still think it's awesome!

To me, I prefer that special kind of feeling that I get from driving a car that after almost 20 years is still recognized for it's beauty, performance, unique heritage, and potential. I just don't think I could get that driving any of the newer cars you guys have mentioned. Give me a 20+ year old Japanese muscle car, beef it up, make it pretty, and lets roll!!!!

My #1 choice is still biased, but it meets my critera regardless. :]

My brother's rockin' a built RB25 in this Z. It made 441rwhp on STOCK internals, if that says anything. Me personally though, I would put a 2JZ into a Z if I got one. ^.^

P.S. I'd rather be the guy driving a 20+ year old car that makes 400-500rwhp than the guy who spent $50k on a car, and still beat him, because my ancient technology tin can on wheels weighs about 500-1000lbs less. :]

Don't sweat it man, mark is nothing but a troll. He knows nothing about cars and whatever he thinks is better or worse, he's sticking by it 100%. Even when 99% of the time he's wrong, he'll argue it til your eyes bleed.

Or maybe he's just jealous his car is not as gorgeous as yours. And you're an ex-FD owner. Not some kid that just signed up showing off his gorgeous car. You are, or should i say were a veteran FD owner so you have acceptable and reasonable feedback.

He's just a hater, we have to learn to just ignore him til he finally gets banned for good.

You still working out by the way??

Sure, you can post a youtube "ringer" but I can tell you the vast majority of NSXs except for late model zanardi etc do not break into the 12s or even close. Are you saying the times I posted are not valid? A quick google search shows its a mid 13s to low 14s car

If I were to give up my FD I would go with one of the following:

1) 2011 Chevy ZR1 (Track weekend car) - Out of range for now but can dream
2) 1997 or 1998 Toyota Supra (Keep stock) - Affordable
3) 2005 GT-R NISMO Z-tune (Collect and keep stock, only a handful made) - Only if availabe in the US.
4) 1969 Boss 302 - Just to collect and restore
5) Shelby 427 Competition Roadster (Rare) - Just for show

I think that is about it. Currently trying to save up for a 2012 Ford Boss 302 Laguna Seca Edition.
