FD - Throttle cable question

Hey all,

I recently replaced my throttle cable and have noticed my idle is a bit higher than it was with the original one. When it's tight per FSM 1mm-2mm of play my idle is around 1200. The TB adjust screw is set and was originally set as low as it can go (I believe to the right, if I turn it the other way it raises idle). It doesn't quite come back to the throttle stop screw at rest, there is a very very small space left. If I press it INTO the throttle stop screw, the idle is perfect and will remain there until I blip the throttle again. If I adjust my new throttle cable I can get it to lower the RPM to 800 but in my opinion its a bit loose when set that way and definitely lacks the feel it should have when it's set snug with slight play.

The car has 20k original miles. It pulls hard regardless of how it seems to be set whether loose or tight. Recently redid the rats nest with all new lines and all new solenoids for the entire nest. Car feels incredible otherwise.

Here's a brief video of the current "slack" in the cable. Maybe I'm nuts and this is a bit too tight?
Thanks for any feedback

The slack isn’t measured the way you have in the video. Grab it with your index finger and thumb. Pull and push it back and forth. Looks like it needs to be loosened up a bit.

Got it! Engine was still warm from a drive. I just checked and made a slight adjustment and it's still snug but dropped it back down to normal idle. So weird, earlier I had to make it very loose to get it to drop, this time I was able to just slightly adjust.

Thanks for the reply!

A easy way to see the amount of slack is to push the cable back into the sheath as far as you can, then take a fine point marker and mark where it meets at the sheath end. When you pull it back out you will then have a reference line to see visually. Just make sure you have slack both cold and operating temperature, then you should be good to go.
