TB Removal now idles high?

Is it typical to have to reset idle after a Throttle body removal (no mods to the TB). I did have the throttle cable removed from the cam and am thinking that would be the culprit. I noticed that my cruise control cable is tight to the cam and that the trottle cable has noticeable slack now. My car now idles at 2000 instead of the 750 it used to idle at.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
