I really hope you find a nice one. How much was the guy asking for the 20b? Mine is making more power than it was for sure, though Logan never sent me a dyno graph on it. Lenny's motor is pretty much like mine, except the slide throttles, which don't effect power and the dry sump. He's making 345 to the wheels on his dyno. The NA's are a very different thing from your turbo. I've driven a bunch of the turbo 20b's and my entire experience was essentially avoiding death.

Lol Gordon I actually laughed at this because there was times when I though I was gonna die at high speeds. A track instruction once quit on me at homestead speed way because my car was too powerful. The guy wanted 35k+.. Single turbo built 20b. Stock body stock transmission stock rear.. Too much.
Ha. But keep looking. You need to get back in the game. Ray Crowe got the deal of a lifetime when he bought Chris Carlisi's 20b, which was very nicely done for only... Well, I won't say.

the car I was looking at was nothing like chris carlisis car but I'm still in the hunt hopefully I find my self a nice one soon.
seems like every single turbo 20b sports a 72mm + turbo.. I wonder what it would be like with a 67 or so.
I looked at all 65 pages of this thread in the last few weeks at work. Imagine the # of hours and money invested in only the cars in this thread!
Things that stood out:
One engine bay that was freshly painted flat black, Carlos Iglesias engine bay setup (WOW), Few with custom intake manifold setups, the 3 rotors, the 2JZ swap. I wondered how many engine bays I had done polishing work for, I did in in college for a few years and recognized a couple engine bays.
The V8s are out of place in this thread. I consider it a downgrade, but that topic has been covered. I purchased one with a Vette motor and can say it killed the FD experience for me compared to the 3 other FDs I've had. I've also had 2 Vettes and 2 Vipers, a heavy NA motor just doesn't do the trick in a FD. I'm not against engine swaps, I'd like to try a 3 rotor turbo or a 1JZ turbo one day, would like to drive a 2JZ conversion to see if it's too heavy.
What's up with the RE motors? is it just the intake manifold that is different and improved over stock?

Which turbo did you have on your 3 rotor? biggest turbo I had was a T66 on a 2 rotor with mild port work to the engine. I was getting full boost (15psi) at 4500 rpms.
I imagine a 3 rotor would have spooled it to 15psi by 3700 rpms or so depending on what hot side we are talking about.
So these guys with 72mm are getting full boost by around 4500 right?
Guess it's up to you when you want full boost. And what Gmonsen said, some of the hp might be useless to you so why have it and have lag.
On the flip side some people like turbo lag, the 3 rotor has enough tq and hp during the time of lag, it can be helpful for road racing, I'd have drag radials on full time which can handle almost any hp once warmed up and if you paid a million for the 3 rotor conversion wouldn't you want to make sure you have as much hp as possible? At least make sure that 2 rotors arent approaching your hp level. I think these reasons are why everyone has 72mm+
Wow, four years since I posted on this thread! Must mean I haven't blown up any engines for a while, lol. Made myself a turbo brace though cos I got fed up with cracking manifolds
Hey, Gordon! I've been plodding on, got the FB that's been drawing a fair bit of my resources now too. The smoked sidelight covers are part of the MazdaSpeed 15th Anniversary bumper. They're usually found in the aisle along with powdered unicorn horn, fairy dust, honest politicians' promises and other unobtanium things. Considering how popular this bumper was with some of the Japanese tuning shops once upon a time, it and all its parts seem to have vanished without trace!
Trains are rubbish, to be honest. Can't wait to get our nice new Siemens ones to replace the rubbish Bombardier foist off on us. Honestly, considering their main business is making Lear Jets and the like, it's amazing they don't fall out of the sky in flaming ruin every other week if they're anything like as bad as their trains

Just finished RotaryWorks V-Mount with custom I/C duct DIY.
also removed ABS & Relocated fuse box & battery for clean-up engine bay.
Looks good! Did this v mount kit come with the all the pipes when you bought it? I see them listed on eBay pretty cheap. Any comment on the quality? Did the A/C fit okay? etc...

I bought some turbo out-let side pipe additionally. 90 degree elbow, 2.7" pipe....
and weld elbow to Y-pipe, cut 2.75" pipe...some mod. need to fit.
to sum up, RW kit needs lot of labor & extra cost.
but it looks great & has good cooling efficiency.

Here's mine, still not finished, will repaint the engine bay next winter (still has the montego blue color) and make new engine harness and relocate the fuse boxes, along with some cleaning...
