Is Rain-x worthwhile? Anyone used it?

I got a brand new factory windshield installed today and I am thinking about using rain-x on it while it's still pristine and not even a little dirty. Does the stuff work? Will the wipers not leave streaks and stuff? Basically, is it worth the time and money to do it? Any adverse effects?

It's great. As the previous post said, often times you don't even have to use your wipers. It's fun to see the moving air push the water droplets off the windshield, just like in a plane.

The only drawback - the stuff does wear off, sometimes rather quickly (like maybe after two or three rainstorms) and you have to reapply it.

It also makes it easier to remove bug splatters.

Rain x is great. I got the towlett type which has individual packets that you just wipe on and let it haze in 1 min and wipe off. It make driving in the rain much safer.

I find that it lasts about 6-8 months depending on how much rain it's exposed to. I think it may also save wear and tear on wipers and windshields bc dirt is easier to wipe off without scratching.

Rain x is all I use. I don't even have a windshield wiper on my car. Haven't for years. I think my car looks so much cleaner w/ out wipers too.

I have heard that it eats your wiper blades a bit faster, BUT I still use it.

Earlier this summer drove back from a vacation in the rain for 800 miles, and never used the wipers except in the small towns (ie less than 40mph). It is the best thing since sliced bread.

Rain-X actually makes wiperblades too..

I'm gonna put those on before the winter.

I swear by RainX. Not so much on the FD, because you can adjust the windshield wiper speed so much. But on other cars, where there isn't really an intermittant wiper speed, it's nice. I don't like the wipers to swing past my face any more than they have to. So with a light drizzle, it works well.

I'm an expert on rain..I live in Washington.

Rain-X is great stuff. I apply it to all my windows and my side-mirrors so as soon as I start driving in the rain the water runs right off. The only thing that sucks is that if you Auto-X and use shoe-polish on the hatch, it'll just bead up...but that's what it's supposed to do.

A great investment.

Best stuff ever invented. I live in florida. 3pm everyday expect a rain storm, not just rain expect road flooding. Ive been driving on the interstate, while ppl are pulling over b/c they cant see im doing fine, and thats about the time I turn in my wipers.

I found that they also make Rain x windshield washer fluid. Just fill up the washer bottle w/ it and that's it. Use the wiper washer a few times to get the stuff coated on the windshield, then you are good to go. It works pretty well, probably about 90% as well as the wipe on stuff, and it doesn't chatter the wipers. The fluid is pink, and it comes in the 1 gallon and concentrate also. I live in Seattle, so I speak from experience.

I use the pink or green RAIN-X washer fluid. Relatively cheap at any WalMart. Green is the summer blend, Pink is the winter one.

Rain-X is da ish ... period! A couple years ago I was flying through a wide-open 4-lane during a torrential downpour in the middle of a hurricane at 100+ mph with a Supra ... I didn't even turn my wipers on and I never recommend doing what I did to anyone ever. My brother uses it on his Z and rarely uses the wipers.

its great stuff! all you have to do is be going fast enuf for the wind to push the water away! the faster you go and the less you use your wipers, the better it works!
