Jeeeeeez...I haven't seen anyone get THAT bent outta shape over a JOKE in quite a while... 24/Seven, even if Dan was serious (which he wasn't), don't ya think you're a bit over-reacting? The RX7Club Forum is known for being VERY harsh...and for you to react like that - and to a JOKE...man...I predict a VERY rough stay for you if that's your norm. Seriously man. You haven't seen ANYTHING. Someone pull out a good 'ol Jimlab vs. XXXXX bashing thread. He's made some ppl CRY...for PAGES lol.

So seriously...1) take jokes well. 2) take negativism in stride. Most ppl who are negative are bitter b/c they see something they like but don't have & want, so they look for something tiny to jump on to bring you down w/ 'em haha. Fortunately, Dan's a GREAT guy (who I've known personally for years), he was indeed joking, plus he has no reason to try and bring ya down. He's just got a great sense of humor and sarcasm that often passes right over the heads of some forum users LOL.

Kevin...HOLY SMOKES MAN. I swear I was scrollin through...didn't see who posted the pics. And I was like MAN...THAT CAR IS CLEAN!!! SHE LOOKS AMAZING!!! Then I was like hmm...who has KS headlights in Cali? I don't recall anyone w/ them...so I scroll back up to see the poster...and lo and behold...it's you!! Man you sure have taken good care of my baby She's BEAUTIFUL!!! (Just needs a drop and/or a lower tire profile )

CarbonR1, I love those headlights! I really like the stock pop-ups, but I also dont want to go HID until I get projectors, so your setup is exactly what I would want for my car!!!

Carbon R1, I have been working on a similar headlight conversion for my 95 Saturn. So far so good for me. Post more pics up and if possible a write up on how you did the conversion.

Does the sun roof weaken the structure of the car? I was under the impression that it had NOTHING to do with the structure of the car.

nice.. I dont think those seats came standard in Spirit R's though.. could be wrong. Ive only seen one Spirit R and one Batherst R in person.. and dont think they had the Recaro seats. I do know they came in non-spirit Rs though, limited edition RZ models. The damn things are $4500 per seat new from Mazda.. and $1500 for just the covers.

 

 

FDokinawa, you're right about the prices, but wrong about the models.

The black Recaros go back to late model FCs (yes you read that right). Then they were found intermittently throughout the years on RS and RZ FDs. Finally, the red Recaros were introduced for the Spirit R's only - but only certain models of Spirit R's....

There were 3 versions of the Spirit R. Type A was like our R models, and came w/ the Recaros. Type B came w/ red leather seats and rear seats. Type C came w/ red leather seats as well, but without the rear seats.

Your car looks good to me whether or not it's a Spirit R. You no doubt have put a lot of the work into your car, and I commend you for it; however, what I do not commend is you coming on here and irreverently flinging disparaging curse words around. I suggest you take a step back and carefully consider whether your strong words have been justified given the situation. Do keep in mind that you have posted a picture of your car in a public forward to solicit responses, good or bad. It is unfortunate that a few benign sarcastic responses have rubbed you the wrong way, but never the less, you have subjected yourself to this criticism just as every other poster before and after you. Having said that, I don't recall anyone actually saying anything intrinsically negative about your car…. I you think you are the only person with non-factory Spirit-R badges you are quite mistaken. I think you will find that the previous owner of one of the finest specimens on this forum made the same decision as yourself and received great acclaim for it. Just something to think about…..

Ramy... ahh ok, yea, the one Spirit R we have here on okinawa has back seats, so he must have the leather. would have remembered if it had recaros.

I have a black set of recaros.. they have some cigarette burns in them, so I went to mazda to order new covers... yea, the guy didnt blame me for not wanting to spend $3K on just covers.
