On your water pump should you be able to see the guts and gears through the hole?

On your water pump should you be able to see the guts and gears through the hole?
on my new water pump for my 86 gxl i looked through the weep hole with a flashlight and you can see gears and guts inside does that mean it's bad is there supposed to be a seal there because it's brand new?

Yes, it's normal to see fins in the weep hole. No, there isn't supposed to be a seal.
