Wrong Oil Filter / Low Compression

I have an 88 GXL and I got an oil change the other day and the filter they put on is a TEAM1 L3593A, and I've never seen that filter before. I checked the oil and it was also a quart and a half low, so i topped it off.

The next day my car ***** the bed and I had it towed in. 14k on the rebuild and the compression is low so the car won't start.

Is this a bad filter? What could've caused this?

Uh, did you actually lose all the oil that was in the engine?

Operating range

No, it was still within operating range. I'm just pissed and trying to find answers. The car was running extremely well, it just doesn't make sense that it can be running perfectly and then lose compression in an instant.

I have never heard of that oil filter, but if it fit on the engine and didn't cause a huge loss of oil it is probably not the cause of the low compression.

Can you describe the moments between driving normally and not being able to drive at all?

The "3593A" is actually the same part number as the Fram oil filter.
I dunno what you mean by "wrong" oil filter, but if it was the wrong application, the oil filter wouldn't fit or it would leak oil like a gyser.

the idea behind filters is this...

if it threads on and seals it will work, some have check valves some do not either way it wont matter. and if the filter is to big that means u just have to aff more oil (not a bad thing) I have used 6" filters on cars that only take the 3"filter why cause it holds more oil so it wont hurt to have more compacity... sorry for the problems u are having but if it is not leaking around the filter its not the filters fault

What happened..

I got the oil changed friday, car was running great. Saturday drove to work, 5-min drive, then back. I parked across the street, then on sunday moved the car from across the street to the driveway, then it just wouldn't start monday morning. I tried unflooding procedures but that seemed to have nothing to do with it.
Checked the spark plugs and they were all fine
battery/alternator are new

A couple people mentioned it could be the fuel pump.
I bought one but I'm having the car towed back to the house this evening.

The car would fire right up, no hesitations, but it was a tiny bit rough like it was clearing something out when it was really cold, but nothing dramatic like before the rebuild when the seals were shot.

most 7's will run on one rotor... so I think u have other issues and not a dead engine
