Are you sure your car is not flooding? S4 or s5? N/a or TII? Sounds like it is flooding.....

Yeah sound's like it's flooding. Next time it happens pull your EGI fuse and crank for 10-15 seconds with the throttle held at WOT to blow the excess fuel out of the combustion chambers, repeat this about 3 times. It should start afterwards. Worth a try.

then turn it off when you are running around and get to where you want to go.then click it back on when you decide to go.
look up flooded engine and deflooding methods.
what Mods do you have? Are they stock injectors?
Sounds like you need to get your injectors cleaned.

When it won't start, you turn the switch OFF and keep cranking the engine over til it starts. Then you flip the switch back to on.

If you end your driving, just turning the switch to off won't do the job. If you put a fuel pressure gauge on the lines and put the fuel switch to Off to kill the engine, you'll still end up with fuel pressure in the rails. Been there done that.

What you should do is rev the engine to about three grand and switch the cut switch to Off. As you flip the switch to off, floor the pedal. That will completly depressurize the fuel rails. Then turn the ignition to OFF.

Then the next time you start the engine, have the cut switch to OFF and only flip it to ON once the engine is actually being turned by the starter.

Just an opinion. Lots of 'em out there. Probably leaking injector(s) or very low compression.

You need to check for fuel on the plugs. If they're wet and you have spark, it IS flooding. If they're completely dry, you're not getting fuel. Like I said in your other thread about this, jump the yellow test connector on the passenger-side shock tower, and give it a crank. If the problem was the fuel pump wasn't running, jumping the connector will solve it.

Pull a spark plug and confirm that they're getting soaked with gas. It's probably got an injector stuck open, so it has no chance of starting.

If they're dry after you had just tried cranking it, you're not getting fuel at all. Jump the connector again and turn the key to 'ON'. You should be able to hear the pump running, and there should be the sound of fuel being pumped through the lines. Listen carefully in the engine bay & trunk. This will confirm that the fuel pump is or is not running, then you can go from there. If it's not running, you should measure voltage on the fuel pump plug. If is is running, you should test injector voltage at the ECU.
