was wondering...
is the rear hatch glass tempered? i was gonna install an alluminum universal racing wing, but i do not have enough room for the mounts behind the glass, so i was wondering if the glass is tempered, because if it isn't, i can drill through it. please post pics of how you mounted your racing wing please

Guys this is pretty common, he is clearly driving at speeds >100mph on a consistent basis. So in order to be competitive on the highway more downforce is needed.

Its even carbon fiber so the addition of an extra part to your car will make it lighter.

....You live on a race track? You do realize how fast you have to go to make wings effective, right?
Sell the wing and buy suspension for your car, you'll get vastly more enjoyment out of that. [and you wont look like a ricer ^_-] Or if you have suspension, exhaust; if you have those, get wheels; if you have wheels, get tires; if you have all of that... get a bottle of wax

First, you don't have to be going very fast for a properly designed wing to give downforce. Take a look at VW Corrado's spoilers, they are activated by speed and at 60 mph give about 60lbs of downforce.
Second, unless you are consistently driving at speeds greater than 150, or taking corners at the limit of you tire's traction, you do not need downforce. In fact, all it will do is induce unnecessary drag on the chassis, which will only slow you down.

ok........if you want to put a rice wing on your fc, there are some companies that make a direct fit wing setup. the bracket sits over the lip of the rear. maybe you should do some more research elsewhere as rx7club members are pretty much anti-aftermarket whale tails, LOL!

A good set of real snow tires is all you need. I drove my FC all through this winter and my drive includes drastic elevation changes mixed with narrow switchback roads...a wing will not help you at all since you're not going near fast enough to get downforce, except maybe the extra weight, which can be accomplished with a bag of sand (and sand won't make you look like a dumbass).

in all seriousness, this forum is for ENTHUSIASTS... and the RX7 may be from JAPAN, but it is NOT a RICER.
FC owners (typically) have taste because-
1. FC's aren't easy to own or mod
2. FC's arent cheap to own or mod
3. FC's take dedication and you cant just toss stuff on it to make it 'go fast'
4. FC's were ahead of their time on many aspects
5. FC's were designed with the mindset that the designers of the A6m 'Zero' had, and the fact that my 1989 mazda Rx7 N/A can outrun and hang with 5.0 mustangs and BMW M3's with out alot of modding.
6. on another note, the 4 wheel steering is annoying and cant wait till i can order my toe remover bushings >_<

3. i paid $300 for it (cheapest good running car i could find)
4. **** everyone that says a wing looks terrible on them
5. i tell everyone i know it is faster than them, noone believes me

Unless yours is turbo, which im guessing its an na for the 300$ price tag. If you HAVE to have a 'wing' find a stock spoiler, and at 130mph you can tell the difference.
oh and come up with a better reason, snow and ice is a crappy one. the way a wing/spoiler works you would have to be doing stupid speeds on said snow and ice for it to work... even then it applies down force not really traction on slick surfaces...

A Civic is too expensive - that's why people should buy a Nissan Sentra. Just as reliable, just as awesome for fuel economy, and everyone ignores them because they "want a Honda".
Anyway, a wing will not help you at all in the snow/ice.. Just grab some chains or studded tires [but please only drive with them when it's actually slippery out.. No need to chew up the roads]
Or even, just drive carefully. I've driven my FC all over despite snow/ice, just take it slow and steady.

Did a VQ swap with a buddy of mine a few years back on a 2003 Nissan Sentra, that thing was pretty damn fast.
Yeah man, it'd stick to simple and clean looking on a 7, Over the top F & F stuff makes the cars look too gawdy and cause other issues down the line such as rust, deformations in the metal and just outright drop the value of the vehicle. Gp Sports makes some pretty sweet body and areo parts for these cars.
And I agree with some of the others here. Suspension first. A car is so much more interesting to drive when the tires stay planted and the car stays predictable while in a corner reguardless of how much power you have.

The Big Ugly!
To the OP there are plenty of other areas of the car to spend money that will prove to be more useful then adding a wing. Now it is up to how to mod your car, but honestly the guys here are honestly trying to help you from looking foolish & drilling holes through your glass.
