I drove with them wired open when my eports hit the fan. I wired them closed about a week later. Its ok if you're a highway driver, but you will HATE if you street drive.

Do you have a split air pipe coming up from your RB presilencer? Does it have a small vac line type thing coming off of it going to the actuators? If not then your actuators have been closed ever since you did the exhaust. If you DO have this stuff, easy way to tell is to put some white lithium grease on the rods on the actuators that go up and down when the sleeves are opening/closing. Go for a spirited drive, varying your rpms above 4k, come back and park the car. If the grease is smeared, they are opening, if it hasn't move, then they're stuck or not opening.

Personaly I drive in town alot, and having to slip the clutch from 3k rpm at every a stoplight because the ports are wired open is just frustrating. With the ports wired clsoed I can take off from just above idle with no problems.

i hate having my ports wired open on my vert... but its all i can really do for now... im prolly gonna just put the acutors back on and have no top end cause my gas is really sucking right now...until i can get all the parts i need to remove the manifolds (gaskets, injectors, banjo bolt, and a few other goodies) i cant take them out... but when i do then problem solved

Ok guys, my actuator (the one I can reach, closest to the firewall) will only move about 1 mm, it wont budge after that. What do I do? Ive tried spraying it with WD40 and other products but I cant really get it to budge. What do I do?

When i rebuilt my s4, i removed all emissions and the air pump, and wired the ports open. I have little trouble starting out from stops, but there is a noticable power boost around 4k, when the mixture is rite. Attaching an A/F ratio gauge helped alot to tune it, but a safc will help alot to even out the fuel curve below 4k.
