Thumbs down Wipers don't work at INT position + washer fluid doesn't work

Anyone know what the problem might be?

The wiper never moves in INT position... it only works in one speed. It doesn't work in the fastest speed position either.

Also, the washer fluid doesn't shoot out when I press the dial down... what could the problem be on this one?

Thanks in advance.

talk to icemark, he sells rebuilt switches. The relays and some cold solders get whack after 15ish years. You can also fix it yourself, but I feel more confident spending the money for the rebuilt than I do desoldering entire circuit boards (or part of)...

Meh, mark is probably pretty busy, but if you do need to buy a switch, hes the guy. I told him I needed the switch by the end of the week so I can goto the Omaha meet this weekend, and he airmailed my package straight away. Awesome!

Anyhow, Heres the link to his rebuilt switches: http://www.mazdamark.com/switches.htm

Annnnd... Heres the link to his rebuild switches how-to if you are so inclined: http://www.mazdamark.com/DIY_wiper_repair.htm

He sells the relays needed for the fix too if you want to fix it yourself.

Cheers...

oh and SOIA I'm getting up there in the post count and im sure there still **** I don't have a clue about (like I'm an N/A guy and don't know how turbo sizes work... never had to learn... probably will read about it tonight now that I remembered I wanted to...).. Besides, who's to say the guy isn't a first gen techie who got his post count in the 1st gen forum, and he just now bought a second gen.

That or maybe he never read the FAQ at the top of the 2nd gen forum... I'm pretty sure there is an exert there about the switchers.

You know its weird... in the last week I've had two shorts in stock wiring that in some way disabled the car. One was the headlight circuit, other was the fuel pump circuit shorted. If you don't know electronics, and you don't have a shitload of money... you will end up teaching yourself electronics driving an FC...

Yep, I ahave just about all the wiper switches in stock, or can rebuild your's for you, or sell you the parts to do it yourself.

And post count doesn't really matter... I keep subtracting a couple hundred off of my total every couple of months, and there are a couple of mods and admins that list only a couple hundred posts (even though they have posted in the thousands).

as far as you fluid washers not working, i have the same problem. i still havent gotten around to fixing it though. if you hear the pump motor "whrrrr'g" then maybe the line is just clogged or something. if not maybe it's just the pump motor. i ended up buying a new replacement motor for $7.

Great, I was worried with the bad weather that UPS might not get it too you in time.

Good to know it all worked out in the end!

Actually it hasn't been too bad. There was some fog/mist yesturday and what not. I work at UPS now am I'm learning just what it takes to slow the system down. Trucks come in an hour late or so with the fog, but we still get the semis and planes out on time...

With a little luck I can still make it to the Omaha meet this weekend!

I also work at ups.....i recommend to everyone- do not ship anything via ups unless its heavily packaged, I've seen bumpers and fenders got smashed, bent and broken by other heavier stuff. just a word of advise. spend the extra couple of dollars and get it shipped freight

Meh, for big ****...yes (why?) I'm tired of tryign to lift un packaged two stroke engines on a weekly basis that someone from here is shipping. My fender I bought got chewed through UPS and it was unpackaged. I agree though, big **** should go through freight. Orjust package your **** good...

Icemark - Do you think relays would fix my problem, too? My problem with the wiper switch is that if you press the wiper to the MIST, it will work only as long as you press it down. So if you let up and they're half-way up, that's where they stop. The INT doesn't work at all anymore, and the rear wiper is sporadic. Think some new relays would beat this?

Thanks!

Yes, WonkoTheSane, the relays would fix your problem. Why not just take the switch apart, use a dremel to cut the plastic covering the relays, de-solder the relays (there's two of them), and clean the contacts with some fine emry cloth?

From what i've heard, just cleaning it up doesn't work (from both icemarks' site and others), so i'm just going to spring the 15 bucks or whatever it is for the new relays, so I don't have to worry about it I am going to cut the back off, though, because that's damn annoying to get off

thanks!
