Question Will my s4 NA hit 200hp (basehp) with a mild port job or do I need more ?

I am getting my s4 n/a rebuilt at rotary resurrection, I waswondering if i can hit 200 bhp with mild porting or if i need more than just mild , cuz Id like to just get the mild porting. My setup will be the streetport, rb light steel flywheel, dual friction centerforce clutch, rb header. And later on the rest of the exhaust and maybe an safc.

Hopefully that will be enuf to get me some good #'s on the dyno...still not sure what header i want cuz the 1 with the backpressure tube i havent really heard any reviews as to how well that backpressure tube works at opening/closing the 5/6 ports.

I wouldn't hold your breath. 200HP at the flywheel(not the rear tires) is pretty doable with proper tuning so the SAFC or a complete stand alone is a must along with the proper exhaust. The proper exhaust is pretty subjective depending on who you ask. Many people will scream true dual while others say short or long primary header. Either of them will make better HP than the factory manifold and convertor. I'd suggest the racing beat header with a presilencer and a good catback. Its a know good combination and will last for many years. The rest of the parts listed are nice to have but don't necessaryily make more HP.

Yeah i highly doubt you will see 200 to the wheels unless you have a full exhaust, big street port, intake, lightweight flywheel, and a good tune with an safc or stand alone. 200 flywheel hp is def reachable.

200 hp at the flywheel is ~170 at the wheels with 15% drivetrain loss. 170 at the wheels has been hit on an n/a with STOCK port, but that was with full standalone, custom intake manifold setup, and various other mods.

So yes it's quite possible and I'd say a average/normal streetport with other supporting mods and some type of fuel controller/tuning would get you there just fine. 170 at the wheels is very doable with an N/A.

200 at the wheels, however, is a different story. With an average/aggressive port and standalone, with other supporting mods, I'd say it's quite possible.

he has an S$, and you suggesting headers, is there enough backpressure to open the aux. ports with a header? How much can you free up before these ports stop working?

racing beat has a tube that connects to the exhaust, either the roadrace header or the presilencer

Speedsource has put 175 to the wheels of their ITS racecars. Quite a few racers report 170+ with their own setups. That's on stock ports and stock ECU but with S5 manifold and electronics. The rub is that the exhaust used to make that power is way too loud for street use. With a good street port and the same level of tuning 200whp shouldn't be out of th question.

Mr. Ludwig made a good point and he may not even know he did. The same level of tuning is very seldom done for a daily driver as compared to a dedicated racecar. I'd venture to say most of the people driving N/A 2nd gens don't tune them anywhere near their potential. There are always exceptions though but those are far and few between and we most likely don't hear about them.
