why is my turbo glowing?

I have an 88 TII, and my turbo glows once it is warmed up. I had to replace a blown gaskett between the turbo and the exaust manifold and ever since I've noticed that the turbo is glowing. I put in a new factory gaskett, and everything is hooked back up the same way it was before. I've heard of these turbos glowing, but I don't think this is supposed to glow this much. I know an air leak could cause it, but I don't know where it could be leaking. Is it possible for the turbo to pulling air from the fresh air stream into the exhaust stream? Should I try some high-temp sealant around the gaskett? I'm at a loss here and need some help, thanks.

Clogged precats, and maybe a rich mixture.
Gut the precats as a start, they're only their for start-up emissions.

Under what conditions does it glow? Idle, cruising, after a good caning?

I have a new exhaust system so I don't have any pre-cats. From the looks of things, I don't think anything is clogged. My turbo glows even at idle, and a lot if I lay into it, which I won't do right now......and yes, I'm sure that my car runs rich, but i've never noticed this before

If I had loose cats, then why would my turbo be glowing? Wouldn't the cats or the pipes around the cats be glowing instead?
