I am going to deal with my minor rust issue forming on my rear wheels. I have chose to use POR 15. It is a rust preventative paint that is very very strong. I know Aaron Cake has used it before but I can't find to find the link.

I am going to use it on my whole under carraige also.

Who here has used it with what results?

I plan on buying a gallon and am not sure if that will be enough.

 

I haven't used it to fix any rust, but I have used it to cover up edges of places i've cut with a sawzall. it worked beautifully. if you're using it to prevent rust from spreading, try to get as much of that rust off as possible before putting on the por15. doing the whole undercarrage is a good idea if your car sees a lot of winter driving. good plans!

 

I've used it! Best stuff on the planet! However it works best with rust so removing "as much" rust is not recommended. You wont be disappointed.

 

I used it in 2 small spots on rear wheelwells over 6 years ago-has held up great. I would just follow the instructions, remove whats loose, clean, prep, apply.

Dries extremely hard, I just top coated with touch up.

 

I'm not sure about using it on wheels, you may have to blast them down, and just paint them......

as far as undercarriage, we did that to my buddies 10th AE entirely underneath. Removed all the trailing arms, rear end, etc. and painted everything. It finished great, and held up awesome. If you want, paint the entire under-side with it, then let it dry and paint over it with a flat black if you dont want a gloss finish.

 

covered by rust spot where abs went out..frame cross brace and inner pass fender..clean it with a degreaser then simply spray on the preper which is in a spray bottle..its coats the metal with zinc oxide then simply paint..hard as a brick looks great...oh and a gallon will be plenty. the paint goes a long way

 

A quart will do the entire bottom of the car.

Very nice, I'm really excited to use this. I think I will buy the 3 step system, the marine clean, the metal ready, and probably one gallon for the whole undercarriage (hopefully that will be enough).

For those who've used it? Is it do able in one day? I'm debating on paying someone to do it since I really don't want to get this stuff on me.

Foam brush - I bought a cheap set of a dozen different sized foam brushes, and I used almost all of them.

It would be a FULL day. It goes on fast and coats well, but you've got to get all the grease, oil, and road grime off if you want the paint to adhere well - I didn't use any of the prep stuff or anything and the engine, tranny, and driveshaft were all out, and I did it in basically three hours a day for three days. I did the whole bottom and only got a couple of drops on my hands though, just make sure you're not painting directly over yourself, crawl in deep and work yourself out from under the car back to front. It's not as hard to get off as they say it is, keep a wet rag nearby and wipe it off as SOON as it gets on you.

 

POR15 was given to man from god himself. Its THAT good. Used to paint **** on my jeep after I welded..

 

Aaroncake used it a lot on his car. I'm sure you can find some info on it from his posts, or maybe he will just chime in.
