The following is a true story. No names have been changed to protect the innocent.
Found by accident, no exageration. Excellent stock interior, new paint (excellent workmanship), engine has 8,000 miles on it and was built by a well known RX7 shop (have receipt), T2 hood, rear deck spoiler, factory mud flaps all around, '89 T2 CHROMED wheels, good rubber, everything works perfectly, top has no tears.
Mechanically 100% stock. Only thing I have planned is a good wax job and to replace the 3rd member with a LSD, shooting for a 4.3. If successful, then I'll want to get a personalized license plate "VERTs".
Sellers problem, couldn't get it started. Symptom, no power when you turn the key. Battery is fine.
Diagnosed as a bad main 80 amp fuse. Cost, $3.75.
Bought it, thought about installing the fuse and driving it home. Decided that would be rude, so had it AAA towed to my house and replaced the fuse there. Then went by the local Catholic Church and confessed for taking advantage of the guy. Gotta think ahead, you know.
Primary issue, wife not happy about me buying another REX. When I walked in the door, all I said was "you are not going to believe what I'm considering". Without hesitation she simply said "What color is it?"
Thinking about showing it at 7Stock as is. Don't you think I should win a prize? Wait, I already did!

89 GTUs Body a little banged up but good paint. Runs OK with some tweeking. Came with A sound system Head unit amp sub box all hight end, 1200 est sound value. I put tires on it. Paid 500 from my Bro, he need money fast all i had, SUCKER
$3500 for 90T2 in very nice condition, bone stock (with the side skirts) even had all sevice recipts from the original owner including bill of sale.
Needed a pressure sensor and spark plug wires.
I love buying cars from old ladies who don't have a clue.

Now you have to remember that Greece is probably one of the worst countries to buy a car, much less a used one (we have been convicted three times already by the EU for having illegal taxes on imported used cars
).
Anyway, paid 15K EUR for my '92 TII, which is -was- absolutely perfect. 90K km on engine and body (all highway kms), a few tiny little scratches on the original paint, but thats it. No mods, perfect interior, everying works, perfect leather, generally perfect.
Well, it did need a new clutch after 1K km, a new power antennae, and as it turned out -after my recent "adventure"- it also needed new exhaust manifold and turbo rebuilding.
.....not that I'm complaining. Car is a

88T2 for $2000. Body is in near perfect condition, interior's awesome, guy thought the engine was about to blow. Took the thing home, did the ATF trick, fixed the timing, replaced the spark plugs and... runs perfect!
I pruchased '89TII new. Here was the deal-
My '88 TII was bought back by Mazda a/c trailing plug problems and high exhaust temps creating high fuel temps and terrible gas odors in vehicle if over @ 85 degrees ambient temps.
Mazda gave me the '89TII at what was to be dealer cost.
$29700 list, paid $22500.

I got my 88 TII 10th AE for $5500 in perfect condition, the guy i bought it from was an **** retentive mechanical engineer, the only place he ever had it serviced was 3 hours away at Hayes Rotary in Redmond, WA.
He garaged it for the entire time he had it, only drove it in the sun, the 10th AE bra is perfect, the whole car is in pristine shape.

I got by far the best deal around.
I'm in the Navy, and my boss (a lieutenant commander) and her husband were going to give a 1987 TII to charity... I was gonna make an offer, but instead let him name his price... $100. Yes, ONE HUNDRED. Now, if anyone can tell me how to post a pic of it, I will.

i saw my '87 gxl sitting in a guys driveway for sale...he was a motorcycle shop owner, and i had 10 old crappy bikes.... i gave him 9 bikes, he gave me an '86 and '87 rx-7's...ahahah the '86 is a parts car, the '87 needs an engine and a rust spot fixed (only like 2")
i gave $800 for a 88 TII, had intake, exhaust, ignition, clutch, springs, shocks, wheels, body kit, FCD, straight body, shiny red paint and some little stuff. The guy didnt have enough money to get the motor rebuilt, so he sold it to me instead of letting it waste away. I think it was a good decision on his part.

I bought my first Rex for $2700. It was a 88 se with a fresh rebuild from Hayes rotary. That was 3 years ago.
My current car is a 1988 vert. I bought that 2 years ago from the original owner. Bone stock, Very close to mint condition, 116K, always garaged. Paid $5300. Still runs flawless. 143K now and has never broke down. I love my car
