wheres sparky?

i will give you guys a little history first. friday my rx got towed because the land lady doesnt like it there, so monday i got it out of the impound lot. the yard lost my battery, and somehow managed to destroy the interior. i got a new battery and it wouldnt even turn over. i found that the main fuse was fried, so i replaced it. now it cranks but i think that i dont have spark. it wont light up a timing light. i know it is losing the power before it reaches the coils, because i tested after the fuse block and it was good. i couldnt get the light to light when i was touching the lead to where the coils plug in. is there an inline fuse between the main fuse block and the coils? any help would be awsome. thanks guys.

Time to sue the impound company... They probably crossed the polarity on your battery and fried your car.

I will second that! Don't let them get away with destroying your property- period.

It could have shorted alot of things in the car, mainly the ecu.

well i brought my all knowing frined bill over to check it out. there is powa to the coils but whatever tells them to spark, isnt doing its job. what would most likely be it? would it be the timing distributor thing? how does the spark work on these cars?

The CAS would control it, along with the ECU.

ok i checked to see if the cas was getting any electricity. its not. i unplugged it and checked all 4 connectors, nothing. while my friend turned the key i checked them again, still nothing. on the top coil pack there is a green wire and another one. the green wire is hot, what does the other one do? how does the ecu control spark? i didnt think it handled it.

Two possible scenario's: BAD CAS, and more likely, fried ECU.

Bust out the wiring diagrams and trace this with a DMM. No one is going to be able to tell you EXACTLY what the problem is. Everyone can offer merely guesses. An hour's worth of testing will save thousands of words in guesses.

Check Cas = FSM, Section 4A- Pg 52
Ignition Switch= Steering Column
Coil Resistance= .02 to 1.0 ohms
