When does the RB Turbo Exhaust become restictive?

I'd say 400-500 is when it may not flow as well as, say, a straight exhaust, but are you really willing to give up the sound (and quiet) for a few more hp?
see its hard i like the quietness but then i love to hear the pure wail of these things and the loudness of the turbo spool.. I guess ill keep the RB exhaust if its not chokein my engien that bad.. i guess well see how it goes

I guess the best thing you could do (I have pondered this myself, since we are in about the same boat) is to make up a custom catback that bolts to the RB silencer, and see how much power you gain, versus noise. Most of the RB systems sound is the presilencer, and most of its restriction is the mufflers. I have an extra RB 3" flange on hand that I may use later to make myself an n1 dual knockoff, but still keep the RB catback in case I dont like the sound or look as well (or in case there really isnt much power gain).
what i was thinking about doing is actually building another 3" system teat would bolt up right before the prescilencer right off the DP and just go 3" single out to a N1 muffler.. Something i could just swap ina dn out with 2 bolts and a few hangers in about 20min-30min when i felt like being a bit louder
that would be sweeeeeeeet

Yeah, that would work too. IF you like a single, that is. For something like an s4 base, or an s4 stripped t2, that is fine, but for most of the s5's, verts, etc. I prefer a dual.
Anyway, I think I'd keep the presilencer in there. It is almost straight through, after all, and it does wonders for the noise.
I have a customers vert with a CS single and a thunderfabrications DP/MP. So, straight 3" pipe without interruption. The car sounds like total ****, really. Like a lawnmower with no muffler, or a fatman continuously farting, take your pick. Even with the silencer in, I can't hear my car running (halfbridge) when his is idling.

The difference from a Mid-Pipe to a Presilencer is pretty big. Not so much different noise level but quality of sound. The straight pipe has a drone that gets super annoying after about an hour on the highway. I suppose you could substitute a short Borla XR-1 race muffler for a little less backpressure...
