When changing spark plugs...

I know I'm supposed to put anti-seize compound to the spark plugs head, but what the heck is that?
I asked my dad and he told me that it was grease, is that right?
Thanks.

yeah, just throw some motor oil on the threads and fire it up...
then get ready to watch as your plugs shoot out the side of the engine. =)

i have actually heard of this happening, so im only posting it as a warning. use the right stuff.

Yeah, it's a kind of grease. Go to a parts store and ask for it, they'll have small tubes of it.

Cory Waters
has some in the garage.

I don't know the technicals but the stuff I use comes in a small tube and is silver in color. I would imagine it's a grease with heat resistance additives.

It can also be bronze in color. You should use this stuff anytime you are tighting bolts or nuts in areas that heat up and cool down constantly. Such as spark plugs and exhaust components.
