Angry whats wrong with this thing?

The car is a stock 87 gxl
I was driving home this afternoon doing about 60mph, when I attempted to go a little faster I felt somewhat of a hesitation, the car started running like it was missing, (if it was a cylinder engine). When I got off the highway at stop lights it wanted to cut off, so I had to stay on the gas. It kind of smoothed out the higher the rpms. Taking off from a stop is horrible, it shakes and slowly gets up to speed. When I got home it would idle at like 500 rpm and shake violently. I changed the plugs and now it wont start, any help would be appreciated because Im new to the rotary. Thanx
(sorry about the double post, Im just desperate)

TIme for a compression check! Sounds like the back apex may have let go.

146k? Not that it is really that much...

I would bet apex seal too. good luck.

Also, Is it possible to change the apex seals on the front rotor without taking the engine out of the car?

The rear rotor is more suspect here then the front one...

UPDATE: I just got the car started, I think it was flooded. But it still shakes at low rpm, and makes a rattle noise from the motor mount. Would a broken motor mount cause this? Like I said earlier the engine appears to be running smooth so I dont think its a compression problem.

I was asking for my own personal curiosity. I would ask if they all could, but it seems that the rear rotor would be impossible, while the front might not be. That is why I asked about the front and not the rear.

So would a bad motor mount have those symptoms? Engine shaking at low rpm and acceleration, small clanking noise etc...?

Hmm...My mounts were broken, and they didnt do this. Is the vehicle accelerating like it used to? No loss of power? Idling correctly?

A broken motor mount wont effect acceleration.

That was the point I was trying to make... If the motor is behaving exactly as before, then there may be some creedence to the broken mount theory.

Sounds like the symptoms of a vacuum leak to me. I would check all of those connections first.
