Question Whats The Best Way To Do The Atf Trick??

I've heard a few different ways of doin' this, and i cant afford to **** this up. I need to know the proper proceedure.
This is what I've been told so far-
1)pull bottom plugs, squirt atf in bottom holes
2)pull top plugs, squirt atf in top holes
3)inject atf,through vacuum hose(which one?,where?)
Also how long should i let the atf sit? do i hafta keep crankin' it to move **** around and break up the griminess?

I'm sure you can see my dilema,i have the proceedure, just 3 different forms of it,I want the right one,the one written in stone.
I APPRECIATE ALL THE HELP,BUT I HAVE VERY LIMITED TIME AND MONEY,AND CANNOT AFFORD TO BE "PLAYING AROUND" WITH MY ENGINE, I NEED THIS BABY RUNNIN'!!!!

Any of those will work... The vacuum hose I beleive is the same one the cold start assist pump goes into? Personally I really dont beleive this cleans the motor up... Im gonna cause a big deal on this one, but I let my completely disassembled 12A sit in it for OVER A MONTH. And it made no difference I still had to scrub like hell...

The only thing I see it good for it, break a carbon locked motor loose, which it does quite well...

Also works good for a motor with a bad seal to get it up and running enough to pull in the garage or soemthing....

Ya I don't think this is meant to clean up the engine, just to break up carbon buildup and fix the seals. Mostly just to fix bad compression problems

My friend had some serious build up in his Corrado....we tried the ATF trick and it cleaned it up quite a bit.

Pull the plugs, get an oil can, and squirt away w/ ATF in each hole. Turn over the engine, and squirt some more. Repeat till you think it is enogh, and then do it once more. I used about 1/4 bottle of ATF. Put yer plugs back in, and let it sit for AT LEAST 24 hours. Then be ready. When you start it up, Mt. St. Helens in yo driveway! Take it out to the highway, and redline the **** out of it for a few minutes. Viola! Clean engine!

ATF

I used a small funnel with about 2ft of vac hose shoved into the end of it,I turned the engine over until the rotors were away from the two bottom plug holes and put about an ounce of atf in each hole put the plugs back in ,cranked over for 20 sec,put the fuse back in,hit the key with out hitting the gas and it fired up and ran good(smoked like hell for 20 min)installed new plugs now the car runs great I did this to restore compression after the car sat flooded for a few months good luck! You should let it sit for at least 24 hours so the detergents in the ATF (they're why you use it) can dissolve all the gunk and loosen carbon build up. Squirt the ATF into the lower holes as the upper ones are much smaller inside.

I used a piece of fuel line and an oil can. The fuel line fit right onto the nozzle of the oil can. I pumped ATF into the engine till it dribbled out the lower spark plug holes. Then I cranked the car over and did it again. I did it a total or 6 times, so i figured I got the entire thing soaked pretty good. I left the plugs out and let it sit for 10 days. Then I cranked it over for 10 second with no plugs in it, then I put the plugs in and foolishly started it in my garage. That was a bad idea. It smoked a LOT. I dindt immediately replace my plugs, and the vehicle did not want to idle. After I replaced the plugs, it idles fine.

Rather than bumping the starter to rotate the rotors, you can turn the bolt on the alternator pulley, until you see the main pulley turn 360 degrees. You can watch the timing marks to make this easier. Every 360 degree turn of the main pulley, is 1/3 rotor turn.
