What are your thoughts..

Okay, I'm in sort of a pickle deciding on my choice of ride here..

I have an 88 supra that is being built right now, and I think I might buy an 88 rx7 convertible, which also might need some work. At this moment in time, I know absolutely nothing about the insides of an RX7, other than it being an rotary.

My question to you all is....Should I stay with the Supra or RX7 once both are fine and dandy?

I'd stay with the Supra if you don't know the condition of the vert motor.

If the vert has been recently rebuilt and has no other problems then it's another story.

What condition? mileage? and problems does it have?

Is the supra a turbo model? I'd stick with the supra if it is turbocharged and in good running condition.

Talking

First off, the guy is selling me the rx7 for 1000 dollars just because he's close friends with my dad and has no idea whats wrong with it as of now...

.. I know the guy very well, theres a long story of him owning it, selling it, then getting it back. I'm going over his house to check it out tomorrow afternoon.

As for my Supra..of COURSE its a turbo!

Ever since I bought it its pretty much just been mocking me, sitting in my driveway. I have a complete ceramic coated engine and the heads been decked and ready for a 3 layer mhg. Only thing with that is that I've been searching for a crank because my friend spun a bearing after I JUST put it back together and in the car

I love the Supra, and I'd love to see it running again just because its a Supra. But it needs a lot of work and I don't have too many contacts now.

But I guess I can always have one as a project and one as a daily driver.

okay, so I check out the rx7 and its in pretty good shape. It didnt have a battery in it so we couldn't start it. Its a non-turbo FC

Has some body work that needs to be done to it. Got some dings, dents and scratches, nothing out of the ordinary for an 88. It looks like it needs a new vert top, which I would put on anyways.

Other than that, it looks pretty good. I'm going back next week and flushing all the fluids and putting in new ones to see if this sucker will start up

Never knew that. I guess I can get the RX7 for a daily driver and then have the supra as a project car. The rx7 will only cost me 1000 dollars.

I think it'll be cool to have both.

Go for it if the vert runs well.

Although I live in South Florida, not everyone down here has private jets.
