pretty decent deal probably has a good body and interior since the miles are really low, I would be a little wary of the engine since for those miles it has at some point sat quite a bit. What are you looking to do to it? If you are looking too turbo swap it you may want to hold out for a turbo 2 and for a couple grand more get a pretty decent one.

Really hard to say with the information provided. If it's been in the family since new and then was handed down to a son, I'd guess it was decently cared for. But it may not have been. It may run great. But it may not. See where this is going?
Best bet is to go take a look for yourself.

I'd gladly take a regularly driven/maintained high mileage car over one that just sat for most of the time. Unless properly stored, cars rot while sitting and that's a much more difficult process to reverse than simple mechanical wear.
At this point the interior panels are brittle and dried out, regardless of what they look like superficially. You will break many mounting tabs no matter how pristine the panel looks or how careful you are.
I don't care why the car is for sale (the missionary son gets no bonus points from me) or how long you've owned it, what matters is the condition of the car right now and pictures are worth a thousand words.
Were I to place a CL ad for my car there would be ten pictures and the text would read "CLOCK WORKS".
That would tell a knowledgeable buyer everything they needed to know.

look at how GOOD those pics are! and how many of them there are.
the car is really nice, but its really dirty underneath for 40k, and its missing the ash tray and a couple of screws for the center console, plus a couple of other teeny little things, it brought like 2x top dollar

Another question, how hard would the engine be to take apart?

i would also consider the fact that it was probably driven by a teenager at one point who learned to drive cars at that point and unless the parent(s) maintained it it probably wasn't maintained all that well during that time.
if you want a turbo car, save for a turbo car. it's getting quite old and i'm sounding like a parrot in saying that it isn't worth the time or money to turbo swap an n/a car. virtually every turbo swap i see is half assed and they almost never run right, they are also easy to spot and not worth as much as a true turbo car when it comes time to sell. not to mention emissions laws which in some states will ****-block you from smogging it legally even if it is complete.
most turbo swaps are also incomplete, with weak points in the n/a drivetrain remaining on the car.

if you are going to want a turbo just save for a turbo 2, that is a really clean rx7 by the looks of it but, if you are going to rip out the driveline of it you may as well start with a clean roller and use the extra money for the actual turbo set up you want. I do not know about your area but in Illinois there is usually a handful of decent turbo cars going up for sale throughout the year. If I can get back all the money I spent repainting/upgrading the chassis and suspension and swapping in a turbo engine I could have purchased a mint turbo in the first place and would have saved money. swapping a car like that is NOT cheaper.
