What voltmeter to get?
I'd like suggestions on what voltmeter to pick up for working on my 7. I'm expecting to use it a fair bit for checking for shorts...
It'll be my first voltmeter, so any links on how to use the damn thing would also be welcomed.
ttyl,

I'd get digital one. Canadian tire sell a cheap one..I think around $25 that would be suitable. And Radio Crap sell them too. Just remember to double-check you are not on the Ohms scale when you test for Volts...otherwise...splat.

I was at Canadian Tire tonight. They had ones for up to $60. But the thing was, the modes would go from 10V to 50V. I'm wondering what good is that to me if I'm checking a system that ranges from 12V to 14.4V?
I'm hoping that someone has bumped into a nice little unit somewhere that is either designed for automotive use...

If you're still in the market
I recently bought one from House of Tools. They are a Canadian company that also have a 'e-store'. This is my 4th digital meter of which I still have 3.
The reason that I bought the latest one is because it is an 'Automotive Tester' so it includes a tachometer,a dwell function and built in and thermometer complete with sensor.
I am familiar with 'good' meters as I also own a Fluke, however at $29.99 complete with shock case, leads and thermocouple it will be tough to beat. The tach alone saves me from having to keep peaking at the dash to see where the engine RPM is at
It is listed by House of Tools as: CNE AT-950B with a regular price of $49.95 going on sale for $29.95

go to Multi-testers/circuit tester... it should be the second from the top.

Price
What I meant was that it regularly goes on sale for
$29.99. I checked this weeks flyer and it's not there.
So, it's up to you as far as waiting for a sale
