Talking what tools you keep in your problem rocket!

I was just curious, considering that my 88 turbo has more tools in it than my garage , what do you all keep in your cars?

I just keep 13/16 socket and wrench to unflood the car just in case it floods... that's about it.

Did i have to post it 3 times? No, is it possible to computer messed up and multi-posted it? Yes, much like when you see multiple posts on the board .

I keep a DMM, extra water and coolant, oil, socket wrenches, screw drivers.

I fairly recently moved out of my parents place and into an appartment. I've kept all wrenches, sockets, screwdrivers, plus a few minor things in the car. It's come in quiet handy to have them in the car all the time, but it's never saved me at the side of the road or anything like that. The car it simply too reliable.

All the small tools, plus some large (hydralic jack, jack stands) are in the hatch... I learned that this is a near neccessity when you drive far from home often.

I keep all the spare stuff in there of course, but the only real tools I keep around are a small flathead screwdriver and a set of Vise-Grips. The screwdriver is actually to make adjustments on my amp.

In my honda's trunk, I keep all my real tools. The honda is dead, btw. It's basically just a toolbox now...

I took mine out a while back. Amazingly enough, two weeks later, it gets broken into. This is of course before I got a replacement ECU and the alarm started working again... :o

ahem...

weight reduction

Personally I wouldn't drive my car if for even a short trip if I had any hint that it would need fixing while at its or during its destination. For the times I don't know my car there will AAA. I keep the tools in the garage, now that I have one at least. They used to sit in the living room.

A small black chest of the sockets 10-19mm as well as their SAE counterparts. Also in the chest are combination wrenches 7-21mm (skipping a few). A piece of metal tubing to rap on the starter when the solenoid likes to take a crap. Other than that, I feel pretty safe.

I bought a cheap 102 peice craftsman tool set- fits right in the spare tire place with the tire and stock tools.
Also have a quart of oil and 1/2gallon of coolant.
Some rags too .

My hatch is full of the following.
2 jack stands and jack
A flex plate
A driveline
A torque converter
2 qts oil
1 gallon of coolant
power steering fluid and brake fluid
96pc socket set
A starter
A battery
Jumper cables

Funny thing is I never need any of this stuff nor did I put them in the car for precautions. It's just crap I've acquired and have yet to take them out.

I carry most of the same things mentioned (screwdriver, socket set, oil, coolant, brake fluid, etc) but my most important item is my fire extinguisher. I had a small fire when my PD started leaking and don't go anywhere without that!

Have a full toolbox in passenger seat storage compartment. Wrenches, sockets, screwdrivers, hammer, vise grips, flashlight, etc.

Only a cell phone to call a wrecker.

you would have to haul a trailer with spare parts to use the "craftsmen 1,000,000 piece socket set", other than a sparkplug socket and ratchet (with plugs).

Vise grips, hammer - what the hell are you going to fix on the side of the road with those tools without parts? SAE socket set, last time I looked there is only one part on the whole car that is SAE, the plugs.

BTW, this is the second thread asking this very same question.

A meter w/leads, 10mm, 12mm, 14mm open end/box end wrenches, a used radiator upper and lower hose, duct tape, phillips and common screwdriver, small flashlight with good batteries, spare fuses in the empty places in the fuse holder, and a small crescent wrench. Hey, it's an old car.

I've got a small tool set with 8mm-17mm sockets, an extension, a couple of screwdrivers, needle nose pliers, some wire tape, a quart of oil, coolant, a bag of medium sized zip ties (don't laugh) and a towel. All this takes up my passenger side rear bin.
