205/55-16

I've heard you can go as big as 225s.

There's a few people running 225s on all corners. I guess in a 40 or 45 series?

The later rims are bigger, you can go as wide as 245 in the rear, from what I've seen.

225/55/16 is the stock tire size.

i'm running 225/50/16 victoracers on all 4. in the front it seems to rub on the suspension, so maybe a 215 would help there.

can you get a 225 on the fronts? Won't that rub the front shocks?

I have 225/50/16's all around, and no they do not rub at all. Be prepared to grab every damn groove in the road though......

Just thought I'd add-Yes stock is 205 55 16. Mazda was to put 215 55 16 all around, but that specific tire size was not readily available in the US at that time. Can run 205 55 in front 225 50 in rear same OD, or run 215 55 all around. Some makes 225 50 will fit without rubbing on front, some will not.
I have Toyo 215 55 on front 235 50 on rear. Nearly same OD and they fill out the wheel wheels nicely without lowering the vehicle.

On my 87, I had to grind about 1/8" off the outside of the front spring perch - but the 225/50/16's fit all around.

How wide can you go if you have coilovers?
